Hey guys, My time here has been a short one but a great one. Since about a week ago Iv'e been having problems staying logged on to this site. I can get on and stay on for 15-20 min or so and then when I go to another forum I get kicked off and it displays "Page not Avalable" Then I have to shut down and reboot pc. It just is getting frustrating and old. I run my virus scan and Norton Internet Security progam 2006 and everything comes up clean..No viruses, nothing. What's weird is, its only on this site. I talked to WoodiE about it and he thinks because it's just in a few forums that it's on my side. And I think it's on the RC site. I run the scan and it shows 1 Security aleart and the intruder is www.rcdocuments, and that's the one under the avitar thread that fasteddy has.So I run the virus scan and it comes back clean, but when I get back on the site it starts all over again, So I don't know. If anyone has any ideas please give me a shout. And fasteddy, If I leave, just keep the funds for the site. Guys, I know this is the best site, but if I have to leave (which looks likely) What site is secound best out there for a decent site to go to with out alot of BS. And some good informitive information, along with some humor and good fun, like it has here. Thanks for a great time, I will keep trying for a little bit longer but if it still persists, I'll have to find another forum. I've tried deleting files, and cookies. That seem to help but the problem comes back. So, I hate to leave the best site here, just give me some help, so that I can stay here.
Thanks for your friendship and support.
Dan

Bro, don't panic. Make sure you run Adaware and Spybot before you go off-the-hook. It sounds like you have a bad javascript loading up. Try cleaning out the temp files (tools, internet options, 'delete files' button).

If that doesn't help, login as Administrator, and go back to the tools, internet options, "Settings" (next to "delete files"), and "view objects". Clean out programs that you don't remember installing, and try again.

Hope those steps help ya out!

Are you using IE or Firefox? Netscape even? Since Firefox and Netscape are free to download and use, I'd try one of them. Don't give up on us brother!

Yeah Firefox is pretty kick ass for the most part. Every once in a while Ill get a bug but NOTHING like explorer. Also do you do any type of Spyeware removal? If not Adware Se is pretty kick ass and is free (www.Download.com). It sounds to me its on your end as well. (sorry)

I also dont want ya to leave, but If ya do search a few other Rc forums I KNOW you'll do what ya gotta do to fix it..lol.. Id say Rctech is probably the second best (IMO) and I think that site even blows. Theres alot of haters and alot of scammer in the for sale sections. Rcuniverse is a disgrace to the name "Rc" and should be closed down (and the admins peed on).

Backup your files and re format...that spyware crap is real annoying poop if it's gotten out of hand

NIS in my opinion is about as worthless as crapping in a bag - My highest recommendation would be to uninstall, however if you really want to keep it then you need to add RCNitroTalk.com to it's "white list" this will make NIS totally ignore RCNT. For what ever reason NIS doesn't like the site.

What is the security alert? There should be more details to this problem, post that info here and we'll figure it out - or even a quick google of the alert will probably find the reason as well. If nothing then you can add RCDocuments.com to your whitelist on NIS as well.

Honestly I couldn't tell you - it's been a long long time if not years since I've logged into another R/C forum.

This goes to show that there is something in fact wrong on your side. With over 6,000 members you're the only member to have this much trouble with the site. Yes a member or two might not be able to reach the site here or there, however for the very mass majority everyone can view the site just fine. Personally I don't know what more I can do - what would you suggest I do on the server side to see if it fixes your problem?

Honestly remove NIS - I'm willing to bet if you completely uninstall NIS you're internet problems will be gone completely. There are plenty of other and much better firewalls then NIS. As I've already told you via PM, if you still having problems with the computer even after the scans and such then you should think about either taking it in to a PC repair shop so they can check it out or even reformat the drive. Which if I'm not mistaken someone already suggested.

At any rate good luck!

The last time I had a ton of Mystery problems I spent HOURS trying to figure it out. After 2 weeks of every day trying something different (I knew what to do but was trying not to do it) I finally gave in. I backed up all my files onto another drive, reformated my windows partition and reinstalled. After reinstalling all of my drivers, programs, and putting all of my files back into place I was back up and running, better and faster than before. Only took me 4 hours to do all of that. Would I have done it to begin with I would have saved myself 2 weeks of aggrevation but I didnt want to have to go through all of that. Turned out i should have done it from the door.

For as great as windows is, it still sucks in alot of areas. One of which is that it seems that it needs to be re-installed every 2-3 years.

OK guys, Thanks for the support, and the ideas and suggestions. Which I am going to try all of them. I just can't leave a great site. And WoodiE, I don't mean to sound like I'm raggin on the site, It's the best site out here. I know that, You got to see it from my end here, and you would be frustrated too. So let me step out and try and do alittle work here on this thing.

As far as the Secutity Alert This is what it says
Intruder: www.rcdoucuments (70.85.77.4)
Risk Level: High
Protocol: TCP
Attacked: IP Local Host
Attacked: Port 2433
Intrusion Icc Profile tag Data Overflow
Date: 3/25

nevnitro, stop surfin the free porn sites. Plain and simple. They are loaded with spyware and popups. Pay for your porn like everyone else here.

:jk:

Hope you get your problems sorted out. There is no substitute for RCNT.

I'll add to the Norton-bash here, been working with it on both PC and Mac programs, in fact since OS 5.0/Mac from about /95 or so.

Norton applications are the Worst. Programs. Ever. When it's fine, it's fine, when it goes south, it just drives you nutz. Have an IBM here, new it was worthless, corrupted registry entries, all in Symantec keys, reformatted without Norton and it's the best comp I've ever owned.

I've used it for years, I'd buy it if they stopped the free program. :D

I have Norton Internet Security 2005 and I dont have any problems with the site at all. So far I've actually liked NIS but again, I havnt had any probs with it..yet (Knock on wood). If I was you Nev, Id install Firefox if ya havnt already. Not only is it alot faster but its alot better surf wise.

I've been having some problems with the site too. No way I'm going somewhere else though! I've been thinking its on my end, but I don't know?

Got IE, got Norton but I disable it and keep Zone Alarm on. I keep everything cleaned up- cookies, history, files, and just ran spybot.

I'm thinking my computer needs reformated? I hate to. But it's a year and a half old.

Been thinking about trying Firefox. I know you guys like it. Just hate going through something new.
Used AVG for years though. Also been using Zone Alarm. Like both of them.

digger..I took woodiE's advice and got rid of NIS and installed Mcafee, then went and deleted my files and cookies, also my tempory internet files(the little box) when you open up files in your temp internet files and everything is back on track. I too use IE. I started to use Firefox but before I do that I'll see how this works. Doing great at this point. Good Luck. Let me know if I can help.

Glad to hear your getting the bugs worked out. I really think ya guys should try firefox though. I was hesitant as well simply because I like routine. But what eased my worries was that you can keep IE and still have firefox. So if ya dont like firefox, just delete it. But I'm sure you will like it.
