Is pull string start better or worse than glow plug?

I plan on buying a couple Nitro MT's maybe revo,savage,ect.......
I was wondering which starting method is less troublesome.

the revo and the tmaxx use the EZ start system plug in the controller and it turns over the engine and heats the glow plug the savage uses the roto start system it works almost the same but u need a seperat glow plug ignitor to heat the glow plug.

Read this and tell me if it makes sense?

Do you mean EZ Start VS Pull Start? If so then I will say Pull start. Most Veteran RC drivers will say that and Noobs will more than likely like the Ez Start or even Rotostart. Regardless an electric start. Most drivers will tell you that its the weight or the less mass to have to turn or what ever it may be. I say that whatever it is if your engine isn't tuned right either way will be a pain in the arse.

I've had two engines that were pullstarts, the first didn't last long (blew it) the next I took off and resealed the backplate. I don't like them. Bump start is the way for me!

B B B B BUMP START...except my maxx I still use the EZ starter cause that's what I usually bash w/ and it's so nice to just carry all your starting gear and rev it up again rigt there....

Should you take a bus to school, or bring your lunch from home?

(Just messin' with ya) I always prefer the EZ Start. I end up tuning a lot of engines at the track for people that have gotten them used and know nothing about them. If the engine has a tuning issue, it's just a matter of adjusting the needles while spinning the starter, till it starts running. If it has a pull start, I make THEM pull the cord. They usually end up switching hands when their arm starts to cramp.
Some people swear by pull starts and others like the ease of just pressing a button. If racing is what you have in mind, then it's a trade off for weight.

Like others have said - if its not tuned then non-pull start method is almost required to have any fun. Once the motor is tuned and running good, the pull start is better for having fun as you dont need to lug a box or roto with you. When I upgraded the motor, I was happy to rid myself of the roto start - hated carrying that thing around with me.

all depends on your use and where you will be. Ig you can carry the roto start or bump with ease - then go that route. If you can't - pull start will save you the aggrivation. Much easier to just carry an igniter :)

I prefer the Roto start also. I seemed to have alot of pribs with pullstarts for some reason. I think they just make them so cheap that they dont last very long. The spring end was always breaking on me, so Id have to rebend the end and try to get it back in the slot.. Was a pain... Anyway to her question.. Even with a pullstart you will still need a glow plug ignitor on it. Even with the roto start youll need one. The ez start just has a seperate thing on it thatll do it for ya, but still acts like one.. Anyway, hope thatd helped a lil bit..

EZ-Start/electric start is good if your new to the hobby, which it appears that you may be. After you get things figured out, pull starts are nice to have since everything you need to start it will fit in your shirt pocket (glow heater, tuning screwdriver, temp gauge).

Like rolex said, for the less experianced, electric may be a bit more cumbersome, but will help you learn the hobby.

right now I use the roto start but once I get the hang of these Nitros I would like to use pull starts more

i have a 4-tec with the ez-start. it is much easier. i have been in the hobby for 3-4 years already. for racing, i would use a bump or pull starter. but for just messing around with the 4-tec, i prefer the ez-starter. i was thinking about putting a pull starter on my trx.15 motor but i have been way to lazy.

IMO A drill start is the way to go ( Like a tiger drive ) its just as light as a pull start if not lighter and always gets your rides running asap.

HaHa nice i love the pull start in that i only have to cary my glow starter around, its as light as a button. :smoke:
