Not much of an update today because I have been busy working on the drain, and kinda got the printer going. This is just a box that is meant to seal the pipe in. It also has a gate at the back of the pipe that will create approximately a 3/4" water level at the lowest portion of the stream. There is a spout on the printer that will slide down through the opening to drain the water into a bucket under the table, trickling the water onto a filter (yet to design and print).

Lower tube is glued into foam. Drain is done. Just waiting on silicone to dry to start the removal of the excess foam to start stacking this all back up.

Bought some T-pins to stick everything together temporarily for some test runs. I remember my dad using these when he built his RC planes.

Coming along nicely! I use toothpicks and shish-kabob skewers to hold foam together while gluing it so it doesn't shift. I just know this is going to be wicked cool when it's done. 😍

I use hot glue when I did my course. Bonbs great and super quick to set! I move this course so the time, even lifting it by the shelves, with no issues. Of course, there's a ton of expanding foam holding it together as well.

Can't wait to see the progression of this course Wicked its going to be sweet... that's a nice set up. Nicely fabbed pieces. So that's under foam rite threw the hole in foam. And guess you will use small transfer pump to bring the water back up to the top? For a every ending loop of of water for the river water feature... so cool very cool ma. 👍👍👍

Yeah, that whole assembly is glued into the foam with silicone. The upper layers of foam will surround this and a kinda funnel will be formed to send it all into the tube. The water level will be exactly halfway up the tube before being able to hit the drain.

I bought a small 80gph pump, but it turned out to be way too weak. It only lifts water about 10". So from the floor where the resevoir will be to upper pipe is about 32". So I am going to have to buy a lot bigger pump.

If I am feeling ok tomorrow I hope to finish the foam work on this table, or at least get it close enough for some test runs.

I need to get a hot glue gun!

I need to get a hot glue gun!
I'm a big hot glue gun guy. For years, I've had this tiny $5 pink craft hot glue gun, and then a couple of years ago, I'd decided to get a large manly one. It works great, but I still prefer that little pink one, which I still have, for many tasks.
Harbor freight buddy a guys candy store About 10-20$
I got this one. Works great! Heats up quick, 2 methods of free standing, and UL certified.

Well, I am not feeling too bad after a couple hour nap, so I went back to work and began my FRP (Foam Recovery Procedure). This procedure removes the foam, leaving a 2-1/2" ledge anywhere another layer will be sitting.

You can see how much foam I saved here. Any areas in the void that needs support up higher I will stack 2-1/2" square pieces of foam up to form a pillar.

That's just the one table. Man this is going awesome..can't wait with all these courses being built. Going have to start a 1/24 crawler series.
With each course hosting a event. 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍

I have a tiny little blue hot glue gun that I used about once every 4 years or so. I've had it for like 20+ years lol

Thats quite something that you're building there!

Yeah, still the first table. This one is the most complicated with the water feature, so figured I would knock it out first. If this were just a small diorama - cut foam, glue it down. But since I am trying to build this as a hollow shell to save on buying a bunch of foam, I kinda have to build it up, mark it, tear it down, cut out the excess, reassemble. The second table should go much faster as doing a diorams this way is a learning process on this one.

You should do a nuclear wasteland theme and run neon green water through the course! 🤣 🤣 🤣
That is a helluva idea! Let me think on that. But I really like that!

Oh wait a minute. If I dye the water green, the trucks will track green dye everywhere. Won't be able to do that ☹

Maybe waterproof green LEDs hidden inside each pipes, may provide the green water effect.

That is a good idea. Maybe a lot of strands of cotton dyed green to simulate moss would help. I dunno. Will play it by eye as I go. Right now I am trying to make sure there are no leaks, which will be challenging. I bought some tan Plasti Dip to coat the river bed with. I really hope that works. But I am going to get the plaster work done first and coat that with a matte clear as best I can to hopefully have a double barrier. The problem will be inside the lower tube because poop doesn't stick to PLA. But I think the silicone job I did around it will hold 🤞
