Hey guys, I was wondering in your opinion, what is the method that you guys like the best. I couldnt find out how to do a poll, so please tell which one and why.

  • Pull Start
  • Starter Box
  • Roto Start
  • Traxxas EZ-Start
  • Drill Start
  • Other (please name)

*Please respect others opinions...

I say starter box, but not all rigs can use them. After starter box I'd go with rotostart/drill start (they are the same to me)

I agree with VB, I like the starter boxes myself. I used a hand held starter for a few years, but those are awkward and if your not careful you might be trying to start your engine backwards! LOL
If I owned something that wouldn't work with a starter box, i'd have to go with a Roto start.

Starter box if possible. After that, a drill or rotostart. Most important thing for a starter box is using and adjusting the pins correctly so you're not searching for the right position to hit the flywheel correctly!

Ever watch a race and someone's car flamesout while doing a pit stop? Makes things a lot easier for the pit guy to restart the car (especially if it's just someone just helping you out). Even if it's just for bashing, it's just a lot less hassle to start if the box is set up correctly.

i like the rotostart/drill. vey light to carry. starter box is good too just so damn heavy to be bringing it all over the place.

Where ever I place the starter box is where it stays. If I'm racing, it stays at the pitlane for my pitman just in case it flames out. Bring the car to the starter box, not the otherway around.

I'm a pull start guy. Only have had one pull start that gave me fits. All of the ones mentioned above have there pros and cons.

I'm with the majority.
Starter box, then roto or drill start.

i would want rotostart or starterbox when breaking in a engine ...but after its tuned I'm coming around to pullstarters ..nothing to carry but a little glow starter

I really like having nothing to carry but a glowstarter as well... for bashing. If I was a racer, which I'm not, I would prefer a box or roto though.

yea, .. the reason I ask is because I am currently breaking in a new engine, and it is almost impossible to start it with a pull start. Could someone show me a link to a complete setup for a drill or roto start? Thanks

yea, ... i dont want to buy one, but i dont want to have to lug it around. Along with me needing to buy a battery and charger for it also, which comes to about $100 just to start my car.
