looking at selling my current 1/10th scale smartech (no laughing please :P) and looking to go upto 1/8th.

now i went to LHS today and they recommended the Thunder Tiger EB4 and it seems well built. question is, is it? i`m looking to spend no more than £300 wether it includes the transmitter & starter kit or not. i got 27mhz transmitter, glow starter, fuel and the life saver of a fail safe so thats not essential.

btw, i`m a brit so US links wont be too much use ;) and i`m also a bit of a n00b of whats hot and whats not, however hands-on building/tweaking/whatever aint an issue so bring on the non-RTR kits if any! :)

The thunder tiger is a very good buggy. The engine is also very easy to tune. Just make sure you seal it before even breaking it in.

I was helping a freind break in his thunder tiger and while driving it, I was impressed by how it handled. I already knew about the engine since my Schumacher runs the same Pro21R engine.

the eb4 s2 is a good buggy, just make sure that the shop owner isnt trying to take advantage of you. thunder tiger is right now releasing thier update to that buggy the s3 and he may be pushing his s2 stock on you trying to get rid of it, before its value drops.

check out http://www.twf8.ws/new/home.htm for some impartial buggy reviews.

he had me on my smartech buggy. 1/10th scale and wanted another engine, he said a .21 will fit when i bought the buggy, yet according to here (and going back into the shop) a .21 wont fit without substantial upgrades+mods. also spare parts arent as easy to source as he 1st claimed :/

why i`m asking here about the thunder tiger

so it seems the thunder tiger is the best for the money?

Does he stock parts for the thunder tiger? I know at the LHS's I have around here, thunder tiger parts are non-existant. I don't have a thunder tiger anything, but I still look around to see what places carry for what brands they carry parts for.

That S3 is nice. Never seen parts for it either. Being that it wouldn't be my only buggy I wouldn't mind waiting the extra few days for parts, but it sucks when you only ride is broke, and the sun is shining. Honestly, even parts might be hard to order for a while since it is pretty much new from the ground up.

i`ll ask around on the parts situ on both the S2 and forth-coming S3 versions. see what the score is with that.

if i dont see another model that catches my eye :)

i belive on your side of the pond, the hotbodies lightening cars are pretty popular. check into those and parts support as well. the lightening2 is what i would focus on.

I also have 2 Lightning2s and I'm very happy with them both.....I've never had any problems getting spares or upgrades eithier....

as a matter of fact, i found a UK forum and they too said look into the L2ss.

thing is, arent .26 not very competition friendly.....alot of competitions are upto .21 size?

both look very good models tho, and it seems either the EB4-S2 or L2ss will be very good buys.

lightning1 - where have u found sells the L2ss spares? not found anywhere that even lists Hot Bodies.

In addition to the car and the engine, I'm sure your friend deserves some praise too because he built the car and the expertise/care/hopups he put in must have been a factor in its excellent performance and handling.

u on their forums, lightning? i am :)

thats how i found out about the lightning2ss model and it's price. however, going off just KTmodels url, it dont list any spares or anything - one of the things you have to ring up for?

gm-models lists alot of l2ss/pro spares, so thats good :)
