hey guy's this is it i'm starting it...i've already got a chassis desine that i have been working on and i think it'll work...just got one question thought: how long are most crawler tube chassis i was thinking of making the cassis about 10-11 inches long...also about how wide are they?? i was think ing 4-5 inches wide...what do you guy's think is it to short to long or is it about right?...as soon as i get some answers i'll be going out to the garage to bend up the tubing and get started...and i'll make sure to take lot's pic's along the way....just to start it out i'll be using a normal 2 or 3 shoe clutch but i'm in the middle of desining a clutch that would be controled by a seperate servo...i will be using the brake thats conected to the throttle servo but i will also be hooking up a drag brake servo..

to start out i will probobly be using some axial ax10 axles and probobly a ax10 tranny with dig unit but i havn't decided on that yet...

so feel free to post what ever coments you have and wish me luck.

no offense man, but there is a reason there is no nitro crawlers on the market. if you want to go with it then more power to you, but its not gonna be a walk in the park. as far as the info you wanted, you could just go to the website of whatever crawler you are basing it on and look at the specs. if your going nitro though i would suggest a larger rig then a 10th scale. something in the super range. maybe if you post up more info on what you have planned already you may get some more interest. everyone loves pictures!!

2.5 hours isnt very long in the daytime, most everyone here has to work at least a little in order to pay for this hobby, and the ones that dont are probably in school.

ya i know that there is a reason that there's no nitro crawlers on the market but i want to try it...and what do you mean by "super" range?

not a bad deal....axial tranny, $30ish, dig $80-90ish, mini servo $30ish so yeah its not bad at all....that servo will prolly burn up fast though if you arent careful.

ok i wasn't planing on using that servo if i got it any way i just thought i would get the package so i had everything to start out with...

here is a couple of pic's that i drew up on paint of how i want the chassis i'm building to look

i can't figure out how to get the pics actualy in the post so just click the thing then click open and it should come up

"super" refers to the larger scale crawlers. its a class.

super class compared to a 2.2 class

Super class is basically a larger scale. I don't know what the specs are on super class though. I'm not sure you need to go lqrger than 1:10 scale though. IMO you should do it in 1:10 scale.

oh... I hope you plan on using the O.S. FS26SCII engine. I just don't think it makes sense to use anything else.

Four link things?

Not to sound like a complete a-hole, but i think you need to do a little research on RC crawlers before you jump into this quest. There is a lot of information out there, just take the time to look at a few rigs........

you have to look into axles, driveshafts, diffs, links, just take it slow.

i hate to say it but alpine is completly right Mg...if you want to do this, thats cool and all the more power to ya but you gotta have some of the technical know how of how a crawler works before you try to make a crawler....

sorry i forgot the corect termanoligy for the four link posts or pipe's or what ever people want to call them...on amain there called threaded pipes

i was planing on putting my spare o.s.15 in it

feel free to keep up with the thread you started in the crawler section if you want to get as much info as you can before going all out on this.....qaarts not around is he? so he wont f it up.

no qaart's not around but sombody told me i shouldn't restart the thread because it's already there....and is a thread that i started about a berg really going to help me that much trying to build this??????

I'd probably buy a super rig, or the parts to build a super, then just convert it, seems like the only way i see it.....

i thought about converting one but if i build my own chasis then i have more option's of where and how to mount the engine and tranny and everyting in it

when i started this thread i thought i would get some good lucks, some hope it work's for ya but whatever keep posting your comments i want to hear what you guys REALLY think

good luck with it man but just dont expect it to be easy or close to as good as a electric crawler, it wont be, not that you can't make a cool rig, I'm not saying that, but it just wont be, thats why their arent nitro crawlers in production because its more of a step back in the crawler world than a step forward. people have trying this for years now without ever making a very good crawler out of one...imo it will be more of a basher/rock racer if anything....and i dont mean any of that rudely so please dont take it rudely...

no i won't take it rudely..i know that why there arn't any nitro crawler's on the market but i have a couple of idea's on how to make it work so i want to try it...if it doesn't work who cares at least i tryed...and i'm sure if it doesn't work being that i'd already have the tranny and axles i could just move the stuff over to a normal chassis and have a normal crawler.

yeah that sounds like a good idea for the future....good luck, post some gosh damn pics of this build too!!! i hate reading...
