As the title says....
I've just recently got a SCX30 complete with its tiny 160mAh 2s battery, my question is what do I set my charger to.?
I'm sure the supplied usb charger isn't that great.?

I know on let's say a 5000mAh pack I would set my charger to 5.0 but for these tiny packs would I be right in saying I need to set it at 0.16, something I'm unsure my charger does, I haven't currently checked.

Yup, you're exactly right.

Check the charge rate too. If it says 2C charging you can double it, etc. So if that was the case I would go .3 or .4 Amps.

Typically for my small stuff I set the charger for .5 then the voltage of the pack, 2s, 3s, etc.

.16 is super safe but you can safely charge modern lipos up to 5x the capacity which is .8 amps for that battery.

I charge mine on 1 amp and they don't get warm.

I have a nice charging setup, but haven't even checked my SCX packs against it. The little USB dongle is just so convenient and my crawler course is in the office, so plenty of high output wall worts around. I'll put a pack on my battery checker and good charger and report back as I've only ever used the little USB one.

I also just use the little USB chargers, I've got about 10 of them. 🤣 I do use my real charger for my small 2 cell batteries for my UMX sized airplanes because they take a lot more abuse.

@HPIguy ... Will be interested to see if using a REAL charger makes any difference..
I do like the convenience of the USB chargers, I generally don't really trust them though 😂

The USB chargers I tried in the past were junk. They dont balance the packs correctly. Seems like a fire hazard to me. I open them, shake my head, and toss them in the trash.
I hang on to them for "emergencies"

If I'm heading out and didn't have time to charge a mini I'll pop it on one of those USB chargers in the car.

I suppose I should be bringing a lipo sack with my though, it would be pretty catastrophic if one of those let go while on the highway.

You can't storage charge with them, so I always do that when I get back.

Thanks for mentioning that. I have at least one of those small, flat LiPO charging bags sitting on a shelf somewhere. I need to put one in the truck.
