Hi I'm new to nitro cars, and I just bought a GIO (FS Racing) 1/10 hummer on ebay....big mistake

Anyways I am trying to set the idle, on the engine theres two screws that I can adjust, I'm not sure which one to start with. Please see the pictures attached.

I think the one in rc2.jpg is the main needle valve or high speed needle, but could some one clarify please.

Anyways, do i tighten one of them all the way then try to adjust the other?

Actually, there are three you can adjust.

Photo 1 is your LSN (low speed needle).
Photo 2 is your HSN (high speed needle).

In photo 1, I think I see your idle adjustment screw.

Circled in yellow:

Screw it in to raise the idle, out to lower the idle.

That's if your other needles aren't so far out of whack that adjusting the idle screw will either just shut it off or keep it running.

The LSN is adjusted when your trying to adjust your idle/take off-1/4 open throttle range.
The HSN is adjusted when your trying to adjust your 1/2 open-full throttle range.

I can see that screw under the air filter.

I did play with the other screws. Should I set them to the point where they are flush with the outer case? And then try my idle screw.

You'll have to first break in your motor.....then tune it before you can really get a consistent idle. You can play with it....but as you lean the motor out you will have to re-adjust the idle as well since it will get higher as the mixture leans out.

If you are new to Nitro.....go read some tuning tips. Search the forums...there are some here as well as most of the other RC Sites. Plying with the screws without knowing what you are actually doing can turn your motor into a very pricey paperweight pretty quick ;-)

Good rule of thumb.....if you don't see any smoke from the exhaust when you are accelerating.....you're probably going to harm your motor ;-)

So I managed to set the idle screw, and I was able to drive my car on the street for the first time:D

After I turned it off, it wouldnt start again with the same settings. Just as you said.

I tried to re-adjust the idle screw, and I completely unscrewed it!@!
The black rubber springy thing that has the low speed screw in it, fully extended, I realized I couldnt get the idle screw to go back in until i compressed the black rubber thing inwards with my finger.

So the idle screw is back in, but its not doing it job anymore. It doesn't matter what position its in, it doesn't affect the idle..... Does this make sense? What should I do now??

There's a track cut into the barrel that the tip of the idle screw travels in. You need to turn the screw in GENTLY until it stops, then slowly move that screw in and out slightly while rotating the barrel. When you feel the screw go in a little further, it's now in the track and you'll be able to set the idle again.

i found out that a rc carb is like the carb on a full size carb in that if the idle speed screw is not set right you can't get the idle mixture screw right.
