Okay, so for XMAS my inlaws got me a micro non-hobby grade heli with your basic 2-stick control, needless to say this thing is FUN! Anywho, I think I want to take my interest in this heli as a sign to advance myself in it. I am wondering now whats a nice beginer micro indoorish heli for not alot of coin? Preferably something I can learn that has similar skill in the big helis.

This is what I could shoot without getting myself in the forehead as far as closeups go lol.

Okay after throwing one of the pinions off track to the spur, I dis-assembled and fixed along with taking out all LEDs except the missle lights to make some sory of "seconds" of a gain with my 5-9 minute flight, the ripped the motor wires off the board so its down till I solder points back.

Also, which wire would be the - out of a green & a white wire?

I have a Blade mcx that i had a blast with, Good indoor heli and parts a easy to get from most LHS , i'm ordering a outer shaft for mine to put it back together to pass along.

Blade mcx, or mcx2 would be great beginners that will practically fly themselves. I wish thats what I bought, instead of the 120sr, it is a little tricky but I'm sure I will get it. mcx is 99.00, mcx2 is 119.00, & 120 sr is 159.00, these are all rtf prices, good luck and post pics.

Hey killer, I missed this thread. Is that heli a 4 channel setup? If it is, then I'd say go to the Blade MSR from there. BUT, if it's only a 2 or 3 channel setup, then as mentioned above, the MCX or MCX2 would be next up. All are great helis.

Its jsut a cheapo out of our local Mall, just an up/down and side/side with 3 am channels to choose from, sucks pretty bad IMO, no gyro or anything hobby grade in this thing at all I think

Okay, then I would recommend the MCX 2. You need to get used to full 4 channel control in all orientations before going to a single rotor FP bird IMHO. Trust me when I say there's a reason that there is a recommended progression when it comes to helis. I got so frustrated from doing it my own way that I completely quit helis altogether for about two years. But, having done it the accepted way the second time around, it's been very fun and rewarding.

Oh yeah man its baby steps all the way to the big boy birds, I have been told helis are crazy hard to fly if you have never flown before. They reccomend planes before helis but I have no interest in planes. Thanks for the input brotha :D and everyone else here

No problem man, more than happy to help with any other questions or anything too. I don't buy the whole planks before helis thing myself. I don't have anything against them, and wouldn't mind owning one having flown a couple, but they fly very differently.

HPI KILLER IS A BAD INFLUENCE!!!......he talked me into getting hi......again.

here is my blade mcx right after i replaced the inner shaft, i had forgotten how fun this thing was.

Never really checked the flight times....i would say around 5 to 8 minutes, ill have to check it.

I love heli's, they are a blast, I just checked the flight times, I get around 10 minutes on a turnigy 160 mah nano tech battery, they last a little longer than the stock one that came with it.

Yeah they are, out of all my stuff, the helis get the most attention, even from people that could care less about RC will say "man that's cool!". That's just crazy! I'm getting 3:30 on a 150mah on the MSR X. What are you auto rotating half that time? :D

Looking at getting the mSR X next month. I picked up a new DX-7s to fly my little birds (mCX and mSR).

Nice! Congrats on the new radio hamz. I haven't really spent a ton of time with my X since coming home from Xmas, had the flu and just ain't feeling it right now. But, I really like it so far from the few packs I've flown.

i think i wanna move up a size on my heli's not sure what i wanna get yet though, i want another inside bird though.

If you stay with a co-axial, you'll probably be alirght. Bigger fixed pitch birds like the 120 SR eat up room fast indoors though. The MCX / MSR size and power is about right for inside the house. Now if you have access to a gym on the other hand. :D
