My previous attempts at flying things have proved that I am not a helicopter guy. Today we enter a new era....and it remains unclear if I am an airplane guy. I am a guy who likes to laugh, even if it's at myself ...
Back around my birthday in February I was desperately trying to make use of some kind of rc....insert swamp boat destruction here.

After that I purchased a banggood special airplane convinced that staying above the snow would yield better results. Immediately after it arrived the snow became soft and there was no opportunity to launch without doing the offhand throw method...no.
Today the sun is shining, the snow is gone and I found a reasonable location. My skill at operating an airplane is in need of work. How much is me, vs how much blame I can give the wind we just don't know. I did manage to get off the ground, and even do some things that looked borderline on purpose to anyone who may have been watching. I crash landed a few times at low speed, I had to walk out to retrieve it a couple times after failing to bring it back in my direction before touchdown ...but i broke nothing!! Success!!!! At least that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

The walk of shame isn't so bad when you bring it back in one peice. ;) I killed quite a few until I got to be a decent pilot, hang in there as long as your enjoying it. :thumbs-up:

I appreciate your words of encouragement. I was hoping to get some of it on video. After it was up, staying on camera was not a big success, lol. Long periods of nothing....there's a plane in the corner of the screen for a second....nothing.....a small glimpse way too far away for anyone to care....nothing.

There is a reason I don't have many pics or vids of my planes in the air. You really need someone with you who's up to the task of getting those shots for you.

I have never tried a simulator...or flown an airplane till today. My helicopter days were hysterical
I can barely fly a copter on the simulator, so I'm never even going to attempt to fly an actual rc one!

I had a cheapo walmart indoor model that I used to convince myself I was naturally good at helicopter piloting, and then I bought this thing

It was small and fast....there were 6 channels. I would launch, it would be on the other side of the field in a flash, and I'm staring at it as just a red dot not knowing what direction it was facing trying to stay out of the trees.

I would like to get a plane one of these next days, maybe next winters project.

I did fly one many many years ago, mid 90's, and it did not end well. My son was in the Cub Scouts, and I was the packmaster, I usually lined up really cool monthly meetings. One of the meetings, I set it up with the owner of our local rc shop to have our pack meeting at the rc clubs scale airport, and let the kids fly a plane. The owner Norm, who was without argument the best rc pilot in the region, both plane and copters, bought a trainer plane just for this event. I brought out the tv news station, parents were there, some of the club members, it was a huge deal.
After 2 dozen kids and their dads flying this thing ( Norm was on the main transmitter patched into the other so he could take the controls at any minute), interviews with the news channel, and all the pr hoopla I was doing, it was finally my turn. Everthing was going great for about two minutes, then the plane took a straight down nose dive. I had no control over it, and hollered at Norm to take control. He had nothing and that poor plane burried into the ground and was totalled. After he went through it later, turns out one of the servos had completely stripped the gears.

Now I want to get a plane 🤣

This is the 1 I got this winter.[US$0.00]QIDI-560 A560 Maule M7 510mm Wingspan 2.4GHz 4CH With 6-Axis Gyro 3D/6G Switchable One Key Aerobatics 3D Stunts EPP RC Airplane Glider RTF Compatible S-BUS DSM Signal RC Drones from Toys Hobbies and Robot on banggood https://ban.ggood.vip/1mNIA
so far i can recommend it. Its cheap, 90% assembled and so far has been durable. They have them at USA warehouses so it only took like a week to arrive too. The controller has 3 levels of gyro assist as well depending on how much wind and confidence you have as a pilot.

Just remember, if you go down in tall grass, it can be a bugger to find! Your plane is rarely where you think it is when you crash. Speaking from experience here. 😜

You would have to mow a shorter launch/landing area for my plane to take off from the ground. Not that I could reliably land in that spot anyway. Maybe one take off area...and several random spots that I might crash land in by sheer luck.
I don't know what you'd need for runout but there is a cross road right there at the back. Active smooth dirt roads. You can see a tree line, then another field. That other one is huge. But the couple to the left are probably larger. At the top of that property you can see 4 ski resorts. It's a really beautiful spot.
