Last of the HPI flux buggy’s as far as I can tell. I spent $400 on the kit plus $100 on the battery. The speed control, radio, & servo are pretty much the first things you are going to want to replace or in other words HAVE to. The servo gave in after a couple days along with the ESC so other than futz around with it I picked up a MX6 radio, Hobbywing Quic 150 ESC, & a traxxas 600 series servo with some nicer rims. Oh and I lost the cheesy decals. $900 bucks in so far for less than an hour of run time.

Sorry to see the troubles but, how did that happen? They don't just magically come off the mount? We're you jumping? Tumble crash?

What happened to cause that?

Edit:

It looks like the screw punctured or rubbed on the wire somehow.

What happened was creepy crawler is that I bought a 1/8 mechanical butthead on wheels. The speed control wires were packed into tight up against ESC case.(manufacturing error) Today after a 70 mile 1 way trip to the track, 10 minutes in and one of the hubs snapped like a twig. If you want to do the math I have 1 grand into the kit with parts, new MX6 radio, batteries, and not to mention 300 miles of driving. I’m so pissed I even wrote HPI a letter explaining what happened and asking for them to make up for this somehow(yeah right). Anyway ordered some aluminum hubs & upgraded hub holders. I can’t wait to see what will break next. Probably best just to light it on fire and drive it down the street 1 final time for a good laugh😆

BMX park jumping but, nothing crazy. Hub broke 10 minutes into run today at the track.

Its pretty common for us to buy an RTR, tear it down, fix what the factory screwed up, then rebuild.

Have you checked the diff fluid or shock oil yet?

Bummer about the hub. Generally I don't care for aluminum part upgrades but hubs, carriers, I'd look into ugrades.

Stock rtr electronics are generally not great like you mentioned. Prob just as well to get it over with.

This is why a lot of us still love kits more than RTRs.

So, I guess the Trohpy platforms were not at stout as the Vorza. I so badly wanted a Vorza Flux as they were said to be just plain awesomely solid.

Was your Trophy Buggy Flux bought new? They've been discontinued for almost seven years now I believe and wondering why you didn't go with HPI's current Vorza offering.

I like your "I bought a 1/8 mechanical butthead on wheels" comment. :p

Are parts readily available for your Trophy Buggy? If so, great! Repair and get back out there.

From what I saw on YouTube the kit got stellar reviews however, when it comes to longevity it’s whole another story. It’s going to cost a few extra bucks to make this kit right which is possible because there are still a bunch of upgrades for the flux. I actually ordered aluminum hubs and steering linkage from Hong Kong. If I want to some where down the road I can do the same with control arms, shock towers, etc.
