Hey everyone! it's your favorite person again :hehe: I just have a quick question about by cars pipe... when i was driving my truck i noticed that my pipe was leaking in the area where the pipe connects to the header...ill show u a pic
also there is a part broken inside of it... dont know how important it is and if it cost alot of money to replace it...

ok well the first picture is the picture of the leak and the second picture is the picture of the broken part in the pipe

The rubber you can just put zip ties on and draw it tight, that should eliminate any leak. What part is in the tube on the second pic? Is that from the pipe or the muffler?
 
i dont know what it is... it was just broken when i took it out.... the only thing i know is that it is the place where the pipe goes into.. but the rubber thing is the pipe coupler

Pick the pieces out and put the tubing back on, I would think that as long as you have enough surface contact to pull a zip tie tight at each end, you should be good.
 
It doesn't look broken... It looks like an insert that either goes around or inside the pipe, then the coupler holds it on.

Is that a stock pipe on the savage? I've only had one and I don't recall it having a flange or anything on it... but that was many years ago. Looking at the edges of the "broken" parts, they look machined/molded, not cracked/broken.

As for the leaking, these things require zipties. Once the silicone warms up, it gets very flexible and will cause the pipe to fall off or at least leak. Use a ziptie on both the pipe and header to hold the silicone coupler on. Don't go nuts on the ziptie or it will cut the coupler, then your boned.
 
Ok thanks! i will check that peice out. Also it is a stock pipe for a savage x 4.6 =)
 
It's actually a flange on the end of HPIs stock pipe. It's brittle and subject to breakage. You can still run the same pipe by sliding it farther into the coupler once you remove the pieces, but you might have to re-tune slightly.

I guess the one stock pipe I had didn't have that flange... it was SkyMaxx's old 21 savage.
 
hey thanks rolex! When u mean i have to re tune it slightly, do i have to run it richer or leaner?? Thanks!:D
 
Thanks! so i tuned my truck! the only thing is that the 2 speed transmission(stock) switches gears tooo fast. How do i make it switch transmission later?
 
Don't know the design of your transmission, but mine has a little rubber plug on the top. If you pop the plug, rotate the wheels slowly, you might see a small set screw. You can adjust that in small increments until it shifts where you want it too.

That is on a Losi trans, I don't know how yours is setup though.

Yeah, the savage is similar except that there are two set screws. One at an angle and another straight in. The one at an angle is the one you want to adjust. The one that is straight in is the one holding the gear on the shaft. You want to leave that one alone!
