hi all, i am having some trouble with my pull cord i have had to replace it and it is now wearing out again has anyone got any ideas on how to prevent it from happening.

All I can think of is dipping the cord in wax. I've never had a cord wear out before; they are made of Kevlar and can take quite a bit before they snap. There should be a metal grommet on the PS. If it's not there that might be your problem.

Don't pull it all the way out to the end, short quick yanks, rather than trying to start it like it's a lawnmower, and don't scrape the cord against anything, like the body for instance.

Could swap the rope for strong fishing line, it works pretty well.

I did use an old MTB gear cable for a while, that worked pretty well too. Got bored and removed it after i went over to bump starting.

Pay attention to how you pull it. Since your saying it's "worn", I'm guessing your not breaking it from over-extending it, but rather letting it rub on the engine or housing as you pull it. Pull it straight out so it doesn't rub on the housing and it should hold up for quite some time.

I have a few that are more than 2 years old and they still look fine. Dirty, but not frayed too bad.
