Would hobao be a better choice than Losi and associated?
The more I've studied Hobao, I think they are a little cheap, made. Not bad or poor engineering. People have done amazing things with a Hobao platform.
Parts can be found pretty easily. Great platforms. Imo the more I studied them, I passed on getting one.

The 1/8 scale buggy choices are many. If testing the waters with a RTR there's always some money thrown at the ride even before hitting the track. I had two top RTR picks ready to go before ultimately going with an EB48 that I already knew I would be happy with. The Sworkz Apollo II and the Caster Racing ETO821.2 (now they have the EX3.0 as well) RTR eBuggies were right on the edge... read to fall into my shopping cart.

I'm not here to persuade anyone to a specific brand of RC. I'm just here to say you don't need to go out there with top shelf electronics to kick butt.

Jonathan Hernandez showed everyone the potential of the ETO821.2 RTR at a race in California with the overall TQ in Ebuggy.
