So the one its replacing isn't the one that was just released recently? 🙄
Yes.
The B74.2 was released in late 2022 and the CE version of the kit was released mid 2023. Not even sure if the CE version had anything different. And then the B84 came along last week.

In 2wd buggy terms the B7 came out last year? I think? Most likely would have a B7.1 coming out soon. (2 weeks! 😅🤣)

I saw a lot of comments people were disappointed. That they just bought the 74.2 right before the B84 released lol. I wouldn't get mad if I got it at a deal and it's still pretty relevant and competitive.

So I just forgot to carry the 1, right? 🤣

I'll let you know how the Optima Mid does some day... 🙄🤣
When the NEW Optima Mid comes out, I'll compare them. 😍😎

This new B8 looks nice. I just wonder for how long the B7 will have parts support now.
Did the B7 have issues? Why replace so quickly? Seems quick to me at least. 🤷‍♀️
On the Optima, I love it. But don't think we "should" wait until the next model. Hence the YZ10 v B8, but yeah, why not thro the Kyoshos and Tamiyas into the spectrum? C'mon now! Can you race? Can you drive? Let's give er a go,.

Well I do know an old school Kyosho Avanti [being nuts is neat] can't hold weight to anything in racing terms, but it was still cool, fun project. In the 1990s, Or was it? HA

To me, and this is just from the pics. I'd assume B7 and 8 would be forward and backward combatable.

But that's me, future proofing my jam.

Kyosho Avanti
Tamiya Avante. 😉
They were beautiful cars but not the best thing on a race track. The Hot Shot and Fox platforms and even the Frog ORV(?) style chassis are STILL getting love and being run today in vintage racing.
Tamiya might not be the most well known or obvious choice for the track but don't count them out!
They were there at the track in large numbers 35 years ago. They might not always take Amain places but they were always in the fight!
A lot of 'good drivers' did gravitate towards those competitive brands on the track. They did tend to be more durable, reliable, fewer DNFs. Makes sense.
The Avantes were expensive and parts weren't easy to find back then even.
A well built Tamiya car with a good driver is certainly a contender still IMO.
If you got em, race em!!! 😎😁
Vintage racing is my favorite. There needs to be a LOT more of it! Parts coverage needs to remain strong so ppl can feel good about investing in their old favorites with some hope of actually enjoying them on a track.
I already own shelf queens. If I buy rerelease, its to run it! It NEEDS parts!!! ( I am 100% going to crash!!!) 😂
I am starting over again after many years... no need for the fastest car on the track even if it IS my old Kyosho. I need lots of practice!!!

I agree. There ARE some fine choices availible RIGHT NOW too!

I am up to my eyeballs in resto projects. Waiting for a proper race 4x4 from Kyosho is a HUGE relief right now! I might start to catch up even! 🤣

The recent release of the new Ultima RB7.5 & MP11 makes me think Kyosho is done rebuilding the race team and is READY to start racing.
A new 1/10 4x4 will be along shortly. 🤞😎

Yokomo VS AE would be a clash of titans for sure!!! I'd LOVE to see/be in that race one day!!!

I hope to be on track running with these new B8's asap too! I WANT to see a new Kyosho running head to head against this car! I WANT to be driving it! 😍
I MISS that!!! Brand competition at the track, trash talk between friends... racing is FUN!!! 😁

Don't get me wrong, chatting here IS fun but its WELL past time to get my butt to the track again!!! 🤣

Nice post! Good eye on Tamiya v Kyosho Avanti. Yes, it is, was Tamiya. Always loved their fun little slogans on the wing. Sometimes I can't get mah vs kwh correct going between RC and MTB. Then there's nm - newton meters of torque. Blah. :D

I would love to see a AE/Losi/Tamiya/Kyosho/Tekno/Arrma, etc. Shootout. But just thinking about it. That would take some serious preparation time. I've got a headache already just thinking about it :D

The track near me, he does a "stock class". So it's his vehicles. You drive/race. And it's different chassis, different bodies. The bodies are modeled from different movie cars. Kinda cool, super fun. And it's invite only.

Anywho, back to the point of this thread. Lovely looking rig. Can't justify the cost. And I've got too many other cars to maintain. Can I mention the fact that they say it's supposed to be like $900, but you're getting a "deal" on it at $600 ish? How about I give you three fitty? (that's a South Park reference, I am from Colorado) HA

Not to worry, @sylentk. By the time all the "Needed to Complete" items are acquired, cost will be $900. At least.

Regarding justifying the cost. Agree. And not just AE. Across the board, the entry level cost of 1/10 and 1/8 is becoming prohibitive. -AC
