Tamiya Avante.

They were beautiful cars but not the best thing on a race track. The Hot Shot and Fox platforms and even the Frog ORV(?) style chassis are STILL getting love and being run today in vintage racing.
Tamiya might not be the most well known or obvious choice for the track but don't count them out!
They were there at the track in large numbers 35 years ago. They might not always take Amain places but they were always in the fight!
A lot of 'good drivers' did gravitate towards those competitive brands on the track. They did tend to be more durable, reliable, fewer DNFs. Makes sense.
The Avantes were expensive and parts weren't easy to find back then even.
A well built Tamiya car with a good driver is certainly a contender still IMO.
If you got em, race em!!!

Vintage racing is my favorite. There needs to be a LOT more of it! Parts coverage needs to remain strong so ppl can feel good about investing in their old favorites with some hope of actually enjoying them on a track.
I already own shelf queens. If I buy rerelease, its to run it! It NEEDS parts!!! ( I am 100% going to crash!!!)

I am starting over again after many years... no need for the fastest car on the track even if it IS my old Kyosho. I need lots of practice!!!
I agree. There ARE some fine choices availible RIGHT NOW too!
I am up to my eyeballs in resto projects. Waiting for a proper race 4x4 from Kyosho is a HUGE relief right now! I might start to catch up even!
The recent release of the new Ultima RB7.5 & MP11 makes me think Kyosho is done rebuilding the race team and is READY to start racing.
A new 1/10 4x4 will be along shortly.

Yokomo VS AE would be a clash of titans for sure!!! I'd LOVE to see/be in that race one day!!!
I hope to be on track running with these new B8's asap too! I WANT to see a new Kyosho running head to head against this car! I WANT to be driving it!
I MISS that!!! Brand competition at the track, trash talk between friends... racing is FUN!!!
Don't get me wrong, chatting here IS fun but its WELL past time to get my butt to the track again!!!
