Didn't quite know how to ask in the subject...

I recently bend my shock shaft in my Inferno 7.5.

I want to get replacements for all four corners. Tougher shocks.

Now when I'm ordering i can choose from 10-15 different lenghts.

How are shocks in general being measured.

With the spring on or off and with the shaft fully extended or fully in. ??

Hope this sounds right (or else I would have made a complete fool of myself,,, again)

My Inferno stock shoch is 90mm fyllu compressed with spring off and 120mm fully extended.

How to do ??

Regards

Well there is overall shock length which is the major factor and then you can see if any has more shock travel by subtracting the compressed from extended. Bigger the number the more shock travel.

OK. It's just that I have never orderes shocks before, and the store in Germay I use for my RC parts (they ship worldwide) gives specs in eg. 110mm shock and so on. Then I measured them by hand, but I did not know how the manufacturer usually memasures the shocks. With or without ends, compressed or decompressed.. ect. ect.

I guess I'm just going to meassure the decompressed length then.

Will a shock be less effective or worn faster if I order one that it too long. 5 or 10mm and it then, when mounted, is unable to extend fully. ??

The one I need is 125mm long, but the ones they have is 10mm apart. 80mm, 90mm, 100mm and so on.

Regards.

I think Sasquatch has a legitimate question. I too would like to know HOW it is measured.

Today I recievevd my shocks for my T-Maxx and Inferno 7.5.

The length given was non compressed.

My problem was that everywhere I looked I only saw nice round numbers, 90mm, 100mm, 110mm ect., but my shocks were in odd numbers both compressed and non compressed. Hence my question in here. Perhaps there was some standard measuring method I did not know off.

My dilemma: Buy shocks too short and not having the best setup for the car. Buy shocks too long, and not having the shock fully extend when driving (perhaps)

Well now I have them, and it seems that the > 5mm difference does not matter that much.

Regards

Most are measured in total length. However, some companies, such as Associated and Losi, measure their shock length by the travel of the shock instead of the full length of the shock itself.
