Hi, things are still going great with my new HPI MT 2...the only problem is, it's still totally stock!

So...anyone know some good first hop-ups for the truck? The one thing I am definately considering is a new air filter...the stock HPI one seems a little cheap. I'm thinking of going with this one:

Any thoughts on this filter? Is there any other ones I should consider?

Any other ideas for hop-ups? The truck is a great basher...but I'm hoping there is a hop-up or 2 out there that will let me get a little bit more power from the motor. Thanks

Also...are there any loud pipe, that help performance? I don't have real close neighbors, and the ones that are around me are pretty cool...so I'd like a little more volume :)

can you get parts for yours because my friend can't even get stock parts so i dunno about aftermarket parts

pipe and parts

check out new era models. they have a high volume header and some aluminum parts avalible.

drummerjamesh - Haven't really needed much yet, just a front upright on my Dad's MT 2. He had a little run in with a clothes line pole. :thumbdown

But...that part was listed at Tower, but not in stock. I did find it in stock online at Hobby People & Stormer Hobbies though.

These trucks are still pretty new to the market aren't they? I'm still a very green newbie, so I don't know how long they have been available. There isn't much out there for them yet though...

Off Topic:

Can you get a clear body for the MT2?
If so where from?

Just got my MT2 a few days ago. I love it! Great power out of that .15, not to mention sleek design. I did have a problem of the front shocks coming out of the lower mount. I jumped off a curb and had a nose dive though. I also am looking to replace that cracker Jack box air filter. As far as hop up part goes, its tough finding them. Keep you posted on the outcomes of my MT2

MT2 Hop Ups

I got an MT2 from my wife for christmas, I knew it was coming, but thats besides the point. So far I've added the racing clutch, which adds a bit of customization for take of speed, as well as the fiber brake disk. I also found a custom dual exhaust that goes out the back, but it was originally made for the MT. It takes a bit of customization to fit it in. Alot of this can be avoided by purchasing the carbon fiber rear shock tower that is listed on the back of the instruction booklet. The dual exhaust is made of copper, and i found it on Ebay. In order to get it to fit, you need a piece of copper pipe about the width of the exhaust header, and about 1 inch long. You'll also need two exhaust couplers. The way that the exhaust fits, it goes up and back, then wraps around behind the motor and splits off to go on both sides of the shock tower. At the point where it meets the shock tower you'll have to use a hammer to re-shape the tubing so it is square, with the points facing up and down and left and right, this allows it to fit in the stock shock tower. I don't believe any modification is necessary with the carbon fiber shock tower. Get the motor bolted in, then position the exhaust. Here is the tricky part, you must somehow get that piece of copper tubing , with half of one exhaust coupler one side, and the other on the other side, then couple it from the dual exhaust, to the exhaust header. From here, all you ahve to do is zip-tie it down. It will help to add some kind of bonding agent to the exhaust pressure hose, as it fits a bit loosely, and in the future i'll be drilling a hole in the bottom of the exhaust with a stopper to drain the exhaust out.
If anyone finds this interesting, let me know and i can post pictures to assist in the making of it. Also there is a web site that covers alot of hop-ups for the MT that will fit the MT2, it is
nitromt.iwarp.com/options.htm
The website lists hop ups for the MT in order in which they should be applied, thought not all will work for the MT2, its more then anyone else has provided for the MT2.
Catch you all later, email me at [email protected] if you find more parts or have questions.

Also, that double exhaust is loud, very loud...

I found another exhaust, its at

you can email whoever runs www.scottshobbies.com cause that's who makes it.
