what do you think?

Awesome! Er, what? She's just gettin' broken in. :p :thumbs-up:
I'll be serious now... I was skeptical on how much punishment those "A,B,C,D blocks" (hinge pin braces) could take.
Thanks for the pictures... sheet of Kydex in my shopping cart as I type this.

well, in my case (keep in mind - its my first rig and i don't really know how to drive\jump properly) FF it's the weakest part. you pbl remember when i build it so this is already second set of front plates.
btw, just watch a video from ChriswithaC RC
just check this out after 15 mins of bashing

I watched that video a few days ago.
I gave up after seeing the first dozen jumps. :p

i didn't even watch after first one ) just scroll all the way to the end to see damage )

Rusty. if you will have a chance to do me a favour - to drop your tt an a flat surface and film it. like few of hights 10-20-50 cm (or so)
so i can make sure my rig works fine/wrong.
as i maintenance shocks and now i dont know if they works fine.

From my side - i will film me ... "training ramp" this weekend so you can see as well and pbl give some comments (might be useful...mostly for myself)

Shocks

I'm already looking at using another set of 12mm pistons @White_Crow_G. Playing with the TT's suspension travel by hand... the shocks feel great. Running the mini truggy on rough terrain... the bump handling from stock setup is great. It is the "pack" that is not quite right in my opinion. I don't know if it's the hot summer heat making the oil thin feeling or what? Like I said somewhere before, I don't want to be buying thicker shock oil than what I already have just for one platform.

I'll have to see if the molded pistons tolerance is maybe too great and allowing too much oil passing around them. That will be my first assessment once I get the platform in range of my usual maintenance program and have a chance to measure Hobao's 12mm molded pistons vs. a set of 12mm machined pistons.

well. as long as i have 1k oil - ill try it once my centre diff case arrived.
I'll let you know how it goes (pbl make a video)
itt make much sense to me now when you mentioned high temp....last runs was +30-32 (c)

regarding pistons...
i was looking at some VRP pistons...but they are 13mm when we need 11.9

P.S.
forgot to mention - i really like the way it drives. Handling so good. i feel EVERYthing is perfect. unless the first jump. itt just brakes my heart to hear rig slapping the ground with it's belly. So in my case if i will find a way to slow down compressing stage - itt might work perfect

I cringe when I see that damage. There has to be some skid plate or set up to prevent that.
During my build, I questioned the thickness of the ABCD blocks (hinge pin braces). I clipped the one ramp wrong, I guess. A couple of hinge pin braces and pills will be in shopping cart. For now, a hammer should straighten out the D block to get the TT up and running again... provided Hobao put some spare pills the box.

Oh my friend. You should be prepared for this...it'll happens occasionally.
i would say ABCD blocks are the weakest part of the rig.
Good thing is - you can re-flatten them easily.
I have 2 sets of a front blocks and used to...in a mean time it worth to order another set of a plastic inserts as the will crush or damage every time you bend a block.
btw - you might need to check this guy

The hinge pin braces were the first thing to grab my attention when pulling the TT 2.0 out of the box. Another millimeter of girth on the ABCD blocks (Hobao calls them FF/FR/RF/RR lower arm holders) probably would have made me overlook them initially. I didn't think the arm clipping the ramp was all that spectacularly bad. Being able to bend the hinge pin braces back to "good enough" is not what I really wanted to see or do so early in the game.

If bending of the lower arm holders is going to be reoccurring often, I'll have to give the platform a big two thumbs down. I would have been really ticked if I was not able to find the dog bone.

Shock Pistons

The stock pistons are indeed the 4-hole variant.
IMG_20250731_203854962_BURST001.webp

It's really weird that a person needs to go with a thicker shock oil, or maybe Hobao didn't fill the shocks with the 600cSt that is shown in the manual. I mean, everything feels buttery smooth and no wiggle room when the pistons are inside the shocks. The tolerances are great for molded pistons.

After installing the optional 2-hole pistons front & rear... we're back in action! Shock oil used this time around is 538cSt (Team Associated 42.5wt) for testing. I can already tell you that I'll be going with a thinner shock oil next oil change. Very happy with how the mini truggy tackles the landings now.

2-Hole Pistons

@White_Crow_G the 2-hole pistons come in the 40049 SHOCK PISTON SET
1754942695433.webp

  • Fitting for TT2E, EX10, H2ES series.
  • INCLUDES
    4 x 4 hole, 1.2mm Piston.
    4 x 2 hole, 1.2mm Piston.
    4 x O-Ring spacers.
    4 x Bottom cap guides
    8 x O-Ring 3.4×7.4x2mm

Handling

Even though the 2-hole pistons solved jumping/landing performance, I'm now fighting some donkey kickin' while going over obstacles at speed. I'm 99% sure it's not shocks bottoming out. Maybe the 2-hole pistons are too much of a change (on the rear anyway). I'm going to make a few changes and continue onward before I attempt making a piston, or using a piston that's in between the Hobao offerings.

i've been at one astro track (made for 1/10)
everytthig was nice, BUT...this bloody butt... once you land a jump - i takes 2 meters to settle... it just keep bouncing...no matter shock position, no matter how accuracy landing was (fron to rear/ rear - front / all four at the same time)
so i literally had to roll one of the jumps due to 90 turn in 0,5-1m from the landing (landing was flat btw)
But, have to say - the truck i so good at astro 1/10.... and only on them.... (there is no 1/10 dirt in my area so can't say)

Thanks for the pictures... sheet of Kydex in my shopping cart as I type this.
I'd suggest nylon 6 over kydex for a bumper application. More durable as kydex will crack under the same forces that will just bend the nylon 6. Kydex is cheaper though. I once tried polycarbonate, because i have a bunch, when my og losi 8ight became a basher, broke it, tried kydex, because i had some in a box and it too broke after a bit. I then switched to what i knew i should use but was too cheap to buy. Nylon 6 is what t-bone used for their bumpers and if you've owned them you'll understand.
Little late to the conversation (but same year at least lol)
