I have a pico evo 2,which is no longer in production . I just noticed my conrod getting loose on the crankshaft at top dead center . I just happen to have a brand new novarossi conrod . would anyone know for sure if I could use that ?maybe I could even install the novarossi con rod piston and sleeve ,all are brand new and out of a .21 plus 5 from the same era . is that a more definitive possibility ?

I'd say about a 1% chance of that conrod working out. Just because something is out of production doesn't mean it can't be found.

I figure all that out already by checking every conrod I had ,but check this out ...I spoke to the tech at ofna, and he found an old conrod for that motor , and he wanted me to pay 70 bucks . I literally stop the motor as soon as I heard something wrong ,so the problem had just started . I think he thought it had been going on longer ,and he told me if I put in a new conrod that my motor wouldn't have much compression due to how high the piston went in the sleeve. I don't think he's right ,based on the fact that the problem had just happened ,I mean it may have run 5 or 6 minutes like that . what do you think ?

I would compare part #'s to other Ofna picco conrods, they probably use it in another engine that's currently being produced.

If your gona use a different con rod center to center on the pins need to be exact bushing and pin diameters have to match up.Doesn't seem like much but a few thousants on an inch can cause damage or performance problems. So unless you have calipers and micrometers dial indicators and know how to use them mix and match is not a good idea.:D

guys think about me picking up the old conrod for 70 bucks ? I just don't feel like buying a new motor right now ,since we only have a 5 month season .I figure I'll get into a new motor next season ,but at least that tech at Ofna said that he has the exact conrad from that engine in a back stock somewhere. and do you think 70 bucks is a fair price ? additionally do you think I'll have a problem putting a new conrod in without putting in a new piston and sleeve ? I really appreciate you guys letting me pick your head ,thank you very much .

Tell him you'll give him $30 and take it off his hands as it's old stock from a discontinued engine, I think he's sticking it to you at $70. If the rod is worn out, chances are the bearings should be replaced at the same time, that will add a few more dollars as well.

Oh no, Dj at Ofna won't negotiate. and I don't wanna spend money on the bearings ,the motor is already a few years old ,that's why I'm not doing the piston and sleeve either .

To be honest, your taking a big risk by just replacing the rod, if the bearing happens to let go chances are it will take everything with it. What's the part # for the rod, I'll do a bit of research if you like. I'm only trying to help, I fully understand your position but $70 for a rod is too high imo. Let me know, 90% of the engines I work with are picco's.

I don't know how to find a part number ,any suggestions would help .

the engine is a picco evo 2 from about 3 and a half years ago. it is the basis for the red head jpx .21 or the "jammin" motor. it is a standard button, and it had a blue cooling head with flames and stars on it . I can take pictures with this phone ,and I know how to send them along with a text message .do you have a phone number that I could call and send pictures via text message . I'll send pictures of all the internals and the conrod . thanks a lot for the help . do you sell motors as well ? I have been looking at the team losi nitro tech as an other new motor .
