A while back I bought a used Mojave 6S. She was in rough shape, but for $250, plus the fact that it came with a massive bin of “stuff”, I figured I couldn’t go wrong! Well, the 6s is now an 8S, and I’ve gotten around to sift through the bin. There was a WL Toys 124017, converted to metal and in 10,000 pieces. I own one of of them, so, cool. Plenty of extra parts!

The next one was easy enough to ID, (even though it was also broken down to its component pieces) as it came with its original motor. Team Corally Punisher 6S. Pretty close to complete! Think I’m gonna try to finish this one off, as I was able to get it most of the way there. .

The last has me stumped because I know nothing about gas, and very little about KYOSHO. But, here she is, also darn near complete. Anyone help me out a name to her? I’d like to see how hard/expensive it’ll be to finish her off, or if I should just post her on eBay to recoup some I of my initial investment?!?! Thoughts?

You got all that for $250?!? If so that’s a steal man!

I’m sorry I can’t help, but we got some know-it-alls here, so you should be good.
Yep! And thanks!!!! I stalk marketplace like a fiend. Now, bear in mind, the Mojave looked like this, and needed some work. The other cars we literally just parts in a box. Took me a while to figure out what went where. Especially with no instructions!

There are 100% DREAM deals to be found out there. You’ve just gotta be diligent and have enough capital. It helps to be REALLY courteous and nice to people.

Thanks again! Hopefully I’ll get an ID soon.

Looks to be a Kyosho Inferno MP6
It would be MUCH betterto just put all that dirty Kyosho stuff in a box and mail it to me so you can focus on your other cool buggies!!!👍😁🤣

Honestly, it's probably not much use to anyone but a collector. Parts support is entirely dried up on it... race buggies make awesome bashers, but they get discontinued as fast as they come out for the next best thing making their serviceable life incredibly short. In this case, the MP6 hasn't been the next best thing since the late 90's 😂

I just bought a Kyosho Mint Las Vegas. I have a "couple" Kyoshos. Parts dried up in the 90's ? 🤔
I'm failing to see the issue.🤣

I don't bash my cars. Not an issue. 👍

Not a problem for those of us that like to stare at them more than we drive them 😬

I personally would love to restore this thing and put it on a shelf so I can stare at it during its eternal slumber. But, I feel that’s a no better life for what was once a championship buggy 😂

That buggy has probably seen more snapped 27mhz antennas and driver stand jousting tournaments than half the people on this forum!

I can’t figure out messaging in this forum. 😂 send me a message. If you want my, I don’t have a whole lot invested in it. I’m sure we can come up with a win/win scenario, and my wife would definitely like to see one less half built truck around here. 🤣

Well, I think I have the Punisher squared away to being at least where I know what I need for it. (Sooooooo many screws and hinge pins). It’s gonna be time to order some parts here pretty soon. Now to decide on a lid for it….. I’m thinking one of these three. The original, or two I have lying around from another marketplace score. They both seem to fit, wheel wise. (everything is just pretty much press fit at the moment. Or zip tied together where I’m lacking screws.)

I agree. Eventually I will shelf that Mint but right now uts in PRIME shape for a clean up and run. I fell in love with these cars 35+ years ago.
I'm currently building an OG Optima Mid so I don't neef to run my JG graphite chassis from 30 years ago.
Building a car to run isn't an issue for me.
Even a car with no parts support.
IF it were mine, I'd build it, run it and eventually shelve it I think.
This current Optima build has already turned into a revisit to a 30 year old Hot Trick Optima Ram project, ( find parts for that one 🤣) a JG fiberglass ext chassis build, a blue Optima build, a TF on road and a Peugot 405 nitro.
Some for the track, some for the shelf, some just because I love them. 😉
I am pretty well versed with vintage Kyosho... 80-90 mostly.
Def wouldn't mind added one like this to the to-do list.👍

If only companies would sell their old molds for cars like these and third party companies could continue on with parts support. But, I could see why they wouldn’t want to do that. It’s a shame for how much some of these cars cost new, they have what is essentially a fixed life span.

Maybe I just came up with a million dollar idea 🤔

I haven't purchased a "re-release" Kyosho yet but I have bought and used some new parts on the 30 year old chassis.
The quality of the new parts is great so far. 👍
Some of the changes make me sad. The new 'low drag' belts slip and I think they are a down grade.
Other changes were long over-due and I can't wait to try them out!

The discontinuation of parts is just to promote/force sales of the new model.
It stinks that a manufacturer "kills" these cars, esp the icons that made the brands famous in the first place.
There were companies coming out with entry level 2wd, rear motor, entry level buggies. Kyosho did this too. Sandmaster I think.
They made new cars with plastic pinion gears instead of releasing an old, classic version of the Ultima that might have been slightly more money but had they stuck with the model, 30 years of parts (like a Slash) support and they would be everywhere... WINNING RACES.
It was like when Associated announced they would be stopping production of the metal tub RC10. Just WOW!!! 🥺

The yellow body looks COOL!!! ❤️😍

I’m new. Think I need to hit some sort of level as I’m not seeing a message option when I click. No worries.
Oh, yeah, that's why. I forgot about that.
