yeah - a fouled or near fouled glow will need a very strong igniter - either that or the one that comes with the redcat starter kit is weak.. i found that i couldn't get mine firing well after 3 or 4 starts from the ignitor.. i'm not new to the hobby, but haven't been around a nitro car is over 10 years... so i'm kind of relearning. I remember getting a hell of a lot more starts out of a charge though.
I'm using a redcat hot plug - its a 70117h. That plus leaning it out post break in worked well for me.
I must say though - the break in was more difficult than i expected. constant fouling, flooding, and stalling at first... using the included instruction set.
after a while i just said screw it and found my own balance with the tune. The 3.5 doesn't have a low speed fuel trim, so it made it harder to zero in on a good tune.
That said - i love the aftershock. balls to the wall quick, and man this thing takes abuse. I'm not saying its the best thing out there, but for the money, you don't feel bad jumping it, wrapping it into a fence, or whatever other inevitable mishaps happen. I'm actually thinking the 3.0 is a better suited motor to this thing, because the 3.5 really narrows down the margin for error at full throttle.. it gets into trouble too quickly to correct.
If it still gives you problems and its starting to get cooler in your area - try a hot plug.. worked well for me.
