Hey all, when my son was born i gave up a lot of my hobbies to be with him and spend the money on his needs. He is now 14 Months and loves monster trucks and got him a Losi Megalodon (his favorite monster truck) and watching him get excited when I run it around and flip it made me get the itch too. We have both been hooked ever since. I ended up getting my boss into it and it has been great for our work relationship and it’s just been good fun in general. He’s bought me 2 RCs just to say thanks for all I do at work and to share the hobby with him.
I've kinda fallen in love with the buggies. Had a slayer pro, Raptor R Ultimate, Arrma gorgon, Mojave 6S and then when I got my Kyosho buggy and Arrma Typhon 3S I realized the Buggies were my favorite so i sold the others. I just ordered a Kyosho Neo 4.0 and have a Neo 3.0 now along with a few other rigs. I fell in love with the Neo (MP7.5) platform and it’s been a lot of fun. My son loves watching them zip around and hearing it rev up.
My question is, I really want to try a team associated kit or a MP kit from Kyosho. But being new I’m wondering if it’s a good idea. I was talking with my local RC shop employee who was building a Team Associated rig and man was it pretty. I just feel like may mess something up and don’t know what’s good or bad and what components to pick. I was looking at the new Adam Drake 4 motor and then saw the price and realized this hobby can be really expensive but is there a law of diminishing returns on things like Nitro motors? Appreciate all the insight going forward. Learning the tuning side has been fun, i definitely lean more towards nitro myself. Appreciate the help and any advice. Not sure if there is a beginner friendly way to get into the kit building side of this stuff. Just not sure where to start with it all if that makes any sense. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing back from some long time hobbyists.
