Got a new toy...

Isnt that 1/18 scale... how long is that? It doesn't look near as small as I imagined it.

Overall length: 12"

Overall width: 7"

Height: 6.75"

Oh yeah, that's A LOT bigger than I assumed they were. When I think 1/18 scale I think RC18T which is too small IMO. But that's probably a good 3" longer than an RC18. Not too bad.

they certainly are cool little toys. i fondled one yesterday at the hobby store when i buying a new lid for the slash. keep us posted on how they hold up to pit table crawling.

I'll have to find some links to the video of Austin Dunn (designer of the Gatekeeper Chassis) running one of these at nationals and putting a schooling on some of the 2.2 guys, getting through gates that they were having a hard time with. Rob, Austin has been having a blast with his, so I'm thinking there might be a GC2 mini chassis on the way.

Nice rig Rob! Crawling doesn't seem to have caught on here in MD, but man that is a sweet rig. Although I know nothing of crawling... a few of us here have been lobbying with our LHS to put in a rock course so we could all give it a shot. The HPI Wheelie King seems to be a decent RTR to convert to a crawler at a pretty good price. I am still working on a plan to get a couple of Slash's for myself and my son, so the crawler might have to wait until next year.... decisions, decisions!

Ok... Robmob... you have got my attention.... what are you planning on getting that is bigger than the Baja? LOL

The wheelie king can make a decent crawler, but it's cheaper to build an axial. Now I'm not saying that one is better than the other, but I am saying that you can build a better crawler for a good bit less money by going the Axial route, especially with the new ARTR. It was Smaxxins wheely king that first gave my crawler fever, but after having friends go that route to save money, I realized it was actually more expensive because of the amount of work that has to be done to a wheely king to get it to become a capable crawler.

Definitely go with the Axial ARTR over a Wheelie King.

As far as what is bigger than a Baja 5B....well that would be the Baja 5T.

We had our pit tables pushed together at the race this last weekend. Ill have to say it made short work of humping over anything that got in its way.

Seemed a bit top heavy but I think it was the stock battery placement.

Just think Rob,
If you spent as much time racing as you did crawling, you may have done better :D

It would also benefit from some weights on the wheels.

Thanks for the advice on the Axial. I will end the HPI search and start working on getting an Axial.

Oh man! That thing looks killer!!! Man that thing looks big enought to put the kids in! LOL I am going to have to add one of these 5th scales to my collection one of these years. If I would quit buying new RC's every year, I bet I could have enough money saved for one in no time. Man that is nice.

I hear ya.

I should have won both mod and stock sedan by at least 1 lap instead of allowing 2nd place to be on the same lap as me.

Who did take 2nd in those races anyway? I seemed to have forgotten and I am pretty sure you:second_place: know who it was. :green-grin:

Hey Rob, have you done any mods to it? And if you don't mind me asking how tall are those tires and how long are the shocks?

None.

I am perfectly happy crawling around in the house over various obstacles and stock trim is fine for it.

I do plan on adding some wheel weights to the front rims though.

I use my Warthog to beat on outside and just received another AX10 ARTR yesterday so I can start another project rig.

I've been talking to some of my fellow vendors, and the aftermarket options for the MRC are fixing to be busting at the seems.

The main mod that the big comp guys are doing is simple, and they're mostly just relocating the battery and upgrading the servo.

Thanks for all of the measurements Charlie!

No mods? That thing must be pretty good out of the box! BTW, I think your going crawler crazy, can't wait to see what you do with this AX10.

He's got a sweet project in mind, and he's going to get his first taste of a competition chassis ,TVP style. If you think the bugs bad now, wait until he gets the new rig dialed in. He'll go from having the bug to having the whole dam monster.

I am going to buy another MRC today so I can have rear steering, if you break anything I will have some spare parts.

i saw this at the lhs sunday and the guy there said he got to play with one and was very impressed with it. to bad they are so $$ or i would have one lol
