just traded my rustler for an ecto. its all box stock but been ran a lot lol,
i forgot how much I've done to mine and how different it is than the original!
it still has the 10mm i chopped off the front of mine, giving it a different stance, i run full droop on the Old Man, the ecto has normal shocks and no droop, it sets almost an inch taller, and plush!!! with my full droop there is no shock spring, its all resting fully comlpressed and pulling UP instead of pushing DOWN,
i run high clearance links this runs factory, its a really huge difference, i have aftermarket steering Enduro Steering Plates upgrade Element RC Better Caster and Steering and it really shows a difference
gonna tear it down better in a bit and make a list of stuff to swap out,
i think I'm gonna kep te suspension the way it is but swap parts, this one will be more trail friendly than my ecto which is a belly dragging tank, this ones gonna glide over a lot of stuff that catches on the old man.

really excited to add another crawler to the fleet, ill miss the rustler, but i gotta be SOOOOO careful when driving fast, just didnt get driven much.

I'm not hating on the bright yellow but....I have often seen the crawlers and trail trucks as something where I can get away with black, and gray or other darker colors. The buggies and oval cars etc the louder brighter stuff is easier to see flying around the track. Nice score btw. I'll have my own 10th scale crawler soon enough I think. I keep seeing these posts, and when I drive my smaller stuff I am reminded how the larger vehicle would fascilitate getting out in the woods more easily with an rc. I do have some stuff I bring out there now. Nothing with the ability to scale steep inclines without a lot of speed in the run up though.

i have the factory scratch paint body from the first ecto, i prefer that to this banana yellow as well lol i agree 100%
my sons already looking at bodies, unfortuanately for him the cha2sis of the ecto doesn't lend itself to a full body, being a 12.8 wheel base compared to the typical 12.3, i mean theyll fit but it might get janky. I'm letting him take all creative parts, I'm just gonna work on links, servo, motor wheels tires shocks and other repairs all up to me. yay lol. before you DO grab a 10th scale consider that I'm looking at around 3-400 additional bucks onto the truck by time I'm done
hes gonna most likely end up having to run his cab only as well. but I'm gonna let him paint it all himself so it could end up looking wild lol

The Element Zuul body is a direct drop on for the Ecto, I like the look of it, but that doesn't mean you do.

going thru tonight and checking on the state of the yellcto??
obviously replacing the motor with a fusion pro, ( love em)
screws are rusted pretty badly all i can see. definately going to have to score a screw kit for it. but I'm gonna try the sonic cleaner first, i may be able to save osme of them i dunno.
links are rusted a bit but not super bad, their gonna get replaced with husky links the club5 hugh clearance links so theyll be fine for now
shocks. oil was still pretty clear i was surprised. i cleaned them out anyways and replaced the oil with some traxxas 40wt oil.
servo was replaced with a generic 25kg amazon blue servo by previous owner. ill probly swap it out for a hobbystar servo as thats whats been rocking in the Old Man ecto and has worked exceptionally for 2 years.

I'm not sure yet if he installed the overdrive, i dont think he did, i have a second stealth transmission from a previous breakage, the gears are mostly still good so i am 99.9999999% certain i can fully assemble the overdrive gears but thats going to wait untill i swap the motor and screws. for now we will just be running it with the factory brushed reedy motor.

i threw a set of shoes on him, nothing fancy not even a matched set lol, its got clone hyrax on the front and mud slingers on the back

still need to measure and cut the front bumper off, the approach angle is atrocious honestly. the only real complaint i think i have on the ecto.

Look at you go....I am still in the searching for a 1/10 rig phase. I have narrowed my list from all the things to just most of the things.
