Good wheels and tires for track day with slash?

really depends on the track you’re at and current dirt conditions. Best bet is to ask the local guys what the popular tires are. The traxxas BFGs really impressed me at our 1/8 off-road track. The compound is pretty decent and the tread actually hooks up.

If you’re running a track with loam then the Proline Holeshot is a safe bet.

If it’s a dust free glued track then you’ll want something like the JConcepts Ellipse

Wheels will have less of an impact but can still offer some tunability depending on stiffness but that’s pretty advanced. These DE Racing Speedway wheels look pretty cool even though they’re for oval racing lol

What @Beer_Goggles_RC said basically.

If it's an outdoor type track, a small pin tire like the Hole shots should be good.

If it's a indoor hard packed or sealed dirt, a bar tire like the ellipses or a slick like the smoothie 2s from Jconcepts should work. And if so on a glued surface, traction compound is your friend.

For wheels on SCT I like to run DE Racing Trinidad wheels. Also used Traxxas fake beadlocks before and they are pretty decent too.

Also, great thing to do, check in with the local racers and see what tires they use too.

Since every track is different in its own ways, shapes and form

Also to note if you plan on running at a sanctioned track some of them require a specific tire or tires.

Like when I ran carpet offroad at prolevel we were only allowed manufactured slicks. No tread or treaded tires that had been sanded down to slicks.

Yea I seen that pop up recently in the carpet track scene. Most in which if they run on road on the same track to keep it in a nice and clean condition, but most off-road carpet use regular pin tires like fuzz bites (Jconcepts) or vipers (from promotion) I'm used to running pins, but in the videos, slicks with some Sxt 3.0 sauce they seem to hook up well just like a touring car would.

that’s exactly what we ran. more traction than I could handle 🤣 I didn’t even know where to go with setup since I was already taking corners at 50% throttle
