recently when i go out bashing my mach.28 engine has smoke coming out from the heat sink..its like its coming out of the plug...so just now i put in a new plug but it wont fit in the engine..its not loose it just wont tighten..when i put the glow igniter on it then pull hard the plug comes off..and there is some metal lining thingy all around the heat sink and it got all over my hand..it looks like peeled metal... whats happening? it's not from the plug because I've been using this kind of plug through 1 gallon with no problems...

If it won't tighten, it's either the wrong diameter/thread/pitch, or the hole for the glow plug is stripped out for some reason.

it is the right diameter i tried out all my other worn out plugs but they all wont fit... if the hole for the plug was actually stripped what should i do about it?

If the hole is actually stripped, I'm not sure if a thread insert will work on these engines. It's a machined thread insert.

The only other alternatives are to replace the head or to have the hole drilled and tapped for a larger diameter plug that would be applicable.

The plain, shiney disc with 4 holes.

aha i wuz about to give up one the engine and buy a new os....what do you guys think...should i just leave this car be and buy a the old jato from my friend or stay with the hyper 8 and use my money to buy the 2 speed tranny? do they make a lot of difference...would i get wheelies even thou its a buggy?

You should do like what was said in your other thread and study up on these big block mills. Not trying to be a jerk but your not having much luck with these nitros. I would not worry about the tranny until you can run the engine. It sounds like you were running very hot and maybe melted the hole in the head. It should not get so hot the head smokes.

i go on a strict rule which is be happy when something goes bad cause ur gonna know how to fix it and learn something new...hey i just opened the heat sink u turned out to be right! it was worn out...and hey the piston had a little dirt on it is it ok? i think it came in when i was changing glow plugs...and the piston is brown..should i get a new one?

p.s my engine runs great but i encounter problems every know and then :D does a big block mean a big piston? can i groove out the sides of the engine and put a bigger piston in?

If the piston is brown on top, it's probably the residue from the brand of fuel you burn. Different fuels leave different signatures.
I don't remember if this was from Blue Thunder or Traxxas Top fuel:

As far as the bits of stripped thread inside the cylinder, you need to thoroughly flush it out of there. If you replace the button and start the engine with even a tiny bit of metal inside, it will bounce around and take out the glow plug filament. Even worse, it will scar the cylinder wall or jam the piston, causing a broken rod.

As far as the big block, no, it's a complete new engine, not something you can do to convert yours.

debris as in sand and dirt on top of the piston..i just wiped it off from but i dont know how to open up the engine so i dont really know how to clean it fully... so Q is how do i open it?

Remove the hex screws from the cooling head. That will get you to the top of the piston. If you don't want to pull the engine and backplate, lower the piston and blast it with WD-40 and blow it out several times with an air hose.
Just remember, ONE grain of sand will cost you the engine.

There is no way on this earth that this picture is of one of your rigs! way too much dirt!

Nitro Desert.
Please start listening to what people are telling you. most of the problems you are encountering can be prevented with even just a little bit of care and maintenence. If you are the gearhead you claim to be, you should know better than all of us that preventative maintenance and care is a must. I understand having fun and learning from your mistakes, but learning from others mistakes is also a must. besides, there is nothing less fun than your rig crapping out on you because of somthing you know you could have prevented, or even worse, when it craps out infront of your freinds and they know its your fault.
