I have an RC10GT but I am thinking I also want to get one or two electric cars so I am not constantly irritating the neighbors with my gas truck and it would also be nice to sometimes be able to run a car without constantly needing to tune the engine. With that in mind I have a couple of questions you guys can hopefully help me with.

1) Originally I was thinking I would get an RC18T or MT to play with because they are cheap. In reality though, are they really that much cheaper than a 1/10th scale buggy? I know the actual kit costs a little more for the 1/10th scale but aside from that is there much of a cost difference? Don't the 1/18th scale use the same engines and batteries and smaller but comparably priced servos and esc?

2) I am building a track to run my GT on as well as some of my friends nitro monster trucks. I know a 1/10th scale electric would work pretty well on that track but how about running 1/18th scale cars on it? Is building a track that would accomodate 1/10th nitro down to 1/18th electric realistic?

3) I have a son who just turned four and is always asking if he can run my car. He has a few cheap radio shack cars he got for his birthdays from friends but is always frustrated because they can't run in the dirt and over the jumps. Is there an electric car to get him that can take the abuse he will undoubtedly dish out? I know he is quite young to get into r/c but I am fighting a losing battle trying to reason with him. I also figure if I get him a car then I will have something for friends who aren't into r/c to drive when they come over. I was originally thinking of getting two RC18s, one for him and one for me. Then I would also have two matched cars for some fun racing as well. But it kind of depends on the answers I get to questions 1 and 2 above.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Matt

For your son I would suggest something like a mini Losi or something. They are quite powerfull and able to take the bashing, while there are aftermarket parts that can actually inhibit the top speed of the unit.

The electric version of the RC10GT is comparitively priced at a lot of hobby sites, and I am pretty sure it would deliver the same great run and dependency Team Associated is known for (IMO)

As for the track, I don't think it would be a problem, just scale it out to be a general layout of what you would like, but keep it "toned down" a little so the ::ahem:: wimpier cars can take the bashing. Hope this helps!

get the 2 RC18s.....the 1/10 scale track would be a little big for mini RCs but you'd rather have it too big for them than too small for the 1/10 scales......I play w/ my daughters mini-T on th etrack I go to when no one is there...it's fun.....keep the RC18 stock so you and your son can be in the same league.....I'm thinking of selling the mini and getting 2 of those for me and mine too....it's more fun when there's 2 of you running around each other.....
