Well, my parents told me no more offroading in my Jeep, so I need a new hobby. There's a small dirt track near my house and it seems like it would be real fun to race out there.

I assume a truggy or buggy is what I'll need to race on a dirt track. I don't have a budget just yet, but I'll have one as soon as I find out how much my Jeep is going to cost to fix :hehe: Hopefully under 1K.

So, what would yall suggest? I need something that is reasonably priced. Around 200-350 is probably about what I can spend at the most. The truck will need to be reliable enough that it won't break on me every weekend, though.

Would this be a good first truggy? I want something that I can do some local races with right out of the box, but I can upgrade and tinker with over time. The 400$ price tag isn't too bad, either, but is still more than I want to spend.

Also, yes. I posted something real similar in the truggy section, but I realized what I was looking at were actually buggies, so decided to repost here.

I'm thinking of letting go of my HPI MT2 18ss with an OS 18 cvr motor on it. Let me know if you're interested an I'll get you some pics.

I would, but I'm looking for something new.

Oh, whoops.

If you're racing competitively, you've spent a grand.

More than that!
My setup...500 dollar pro truggy kit
200+ Spektrum DX3.0
120 dollar Hitec 5955 steering servo
60 dollar Hitec 5625 throttle servo
90 dollar AMB Transponder....on sale
110 dollar Picco engine
30 bucks worth of Ofna clutch crap
Bump box, 90 bucks
2 good stick packs for the box, 100 dolllars
RX pack 30 bucks
60 dolllar tuned pipes, a couple of them.
Charger, 50 bucks
Tools, spare parts, fuel ......another 400 dollars easy..
85 dollar sets of LPR tires....multiples
I spend way too much just to race....speaking of....race entry fees.....15-75 dollars a pop!

Yeah man, Rc is a drop in the bucket compared to offroading a Jeep.

True that! My Jeep has sat in the garage since last April because of that. I was spending $500 a weekend for wheeling. Man, that will get ya broke quick! (Well if you're poor like me anyway). Yeah, RCs are a little easier to bite off for now.

I realize that RC and most any hobby is expensive. Thanks for the help. I know it will cost a lot. I am buying a 400$ car and will spend around 550$ total just to get it running and get basic gear that i will need.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! A Main took the 8ight RTR buggy off their site :(

yeah, i know... was looking at that one :( but the Hot Bodies D8 kit doesn't look to bad

But I really wanted a Losi :\

I guess I'll have to buy used then, unless I can find a deal as good as A Main had.
