Running a Hobbywing motor and the SC8SCT ESC, using the first fan that came with it, and it just quit on me last nite during the AMain and shutoff causing me a DNF. I have the spare that came with the ESC, but guessing that won't last long either, I'm looking for recommendations to replace it with something a little more dependable.
As a side-note, I think I remember reading somewhere that if you plug the fan into the receiver, instead of the ESC itself, failure isn't as likely? Any supporting recommendations on this?
TIA

I only ran Hobbywing ESC fans before so can't really tell you. My uncle runs WTF fans (Wild Turbo Fans, not the other kind)

I had to power one of my cars fans via receiver. Really doesn't change anything. I only had to do that since the fan port on the ESC went dead randomly. But the other 2 cars, I been running the fan on the fan port of the ESC with no issues.

fans are one of those going to fail. Had metal fan blades fail on 1st run.

I always toss the stock plastic case fans in the trash immediately when new and replace with just about any brand of aluminum case fan on the market, never had one fail on me in the past 5 years since I started running aluminum fans. Also extremely important to use a "Landing Pad" which will absorb a tremendous amount of shock from hard landings:

Be sure to watch the instructional video here on how to install it:
