Ok, played with my Kyosho Mini-Z Subaru again, and am thinking I might not suck as bad a drifting as I think I do. I don't know if it's a setting I can adjust or if something just isn't right. 🤔

The problem is when I turn left I get nice tight turns, when I turn right I get big wide turns. If I drive it in reverse it performs like it should. 🤷‍♂️

It's got me kind of confused, everything looks to be adjusted correctly, it drives perfectly straight when no steering input is applied. I don't know that much about drift cars or the Mini-Z platform so I may be missing a bit of important know how here. 🙄

I got nothing...

But here's a gif of my mojave grom slidin for no reason 😂

This is my Hellcat "drift" car. I have played with springs, set up "counter steer" gearing and installed a gyro. I also have a hotter motor in here.

Softening the springs definitely helped in weight transfer and getting it to shift around.

I'm running red in the front and yellow in the rear.

By far the best purpose built drift mods I have done are the counter steer gearing and the gyro. What it does is it forces the chassis sideways and makes you have to constantly correct; It's a ton of fun!

It won't run well until the Comp Fox is finished... that's just the way Hexes work. :stick:

:hehe:

Check all of your setup. Toe, camber, caster, etc. Make sure they are the same on both sides. Also check that your links are the same length. Chassis setup on these tiny cars has a huge effect.

They can also be dragged down by small things like hair build up on moving parts. Make sure you check over the whole thing 😊
Yep, great point. These tiny cars don't take much to bind them up.

Also, I've learned the one single thing that has a HUGE impact on driving is caster.

This guy gives really good explanations of what you should shoot for in a baseline setup, then tune from there.

Ok, I checked all of my setup, and everything seems to be set right. I did find some fuzzy bits in the right front wheel, cleaned it out but it wasn't the culprit.

I'm really feeling kind of lost on this one. I can't see anything that looks out of spec.

Have you checked your endpoints in both the radio, and the gyro also? I had an odd issue over the weekend, had to redo my gyro endpoints.

No gyro, but I should re-check my endpoints. it looks like the travel is the same but maybe not.

I wonder if there is binding that we cannot see.

Do you have bearings or bushings?
It's possible but everything seems to move freely.

Huh, never knew those didn't have a gyro. I'm not really familiar with AWD drifting at all. Check that your wheels aren't on too tight causing drag. I generally tighten mine down all the way, then back off just a bit. Diffs possibly need servicing?

Mini-Z's have a ton of options but they are all add on's (didn't know that when I bought it) so the gyro is sold separately for this. I keep wondering if it's a balance thing. It performs perfectly in reverse. 🤷‍♂️ I would just flip the body around if I could. 🤣

LOL

Anyway you can take a video so we can see?

The wheel nut statement is also a great point

I have a mini z skyline that does the same thing. I haven't had much time to put into it to figure out the issue but I decided it must be in the diffs. Then I decided to just play with the others that work properly. Those suckers are so small...... I hope you figure it out so I can fix mine too.

A good drift driver only needs left steer anyways. 🙄🤣
