I think it's working out just fine. The final product is going to be 🔥
Same here! Either way, your 'bad' work is WAY better than my 'good' work!!! 😎🤣

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I just wish I had tested those black shadows before committing. They were meant to only be slightly visible, and much less volume. But my airbrush kept shooting out random spray widths, and volume. Even then, I could barely see any paint at all, so I thought I was good. Then when I sprayed the pearl white over it I was pissed when I saw how dark they were.

What I should have done as soon as the first bit of white hit the body is go back with a wet q-tip and just cleaned up the shadows so they were only a thin border. Or simply wiped them off cimpletely and started over. But, this was a big learning experience for me. I have never done anything remotely this complicated for a paintjob. So I'm kinda happy with it just for the experience.

I just contacted Boom Graphics about a custom decal sheet. So I'll design something in Illustrator to toss over some of that mess up anyway, like
I used to love hot pink up until I joined the Air Force. I have a pink phobia thanks to my drill instructor (short but long story for another time). You, somehow, are making pink cool again for me  :thumbs-up:
Thats Hot GIF by Paris Hilton
I would ask, but I don't wanna 😱

Glad I could help bro 😉

Learning is the most rewarding part of this whole hobby.
I doubt I'll ever lay a coat of paint on any 1:1 so this is my chance to customize and learn with.
Your example sets a great reason to buy a quality airbrush too. I'll be buying one someday. 🤞
I didn't know you could get away with wiping paint off with qtips either. I suspected making a small mess into a big mess would be more likely.
I have a lot to learn! 🤣
I really enjoy these painting posts. 😎

Where's @Xraycer ??? I need a pic of Bob Ross airbrushing lexan STAT!!! 🤣

I hate to say it but, yeah those shadows make me feel bad for you, been there done that. It always smarts when things are going so well, and then you have something go wrong, and you have to decide if it's worth it to try and redo it. It still looks really good, just not where you wanted it to be. Some creative decal work could help. :thumbs-up:

Yeah, when acrylic sets up (not cured) it can be removed easily with water and a q-tip. Airbrush thinner cuts it even faster. And if your paint has begun to cure, alcohol will still cut theough it quickly. After it cures in a couple days time or so, removing it becomes a little more difficult, the longer it ages.

I did a slot car body one time. Painted it black. Then I went back and drew a skull in the paint by removing the black where the highlights would be with a q-tip for the fine lines, and cotton balls for larger areas. You can even achieve fades if you go slow. I'll try to recreate that skull on something to show you one of these days.

We are always hardest on our own work big homie.. Just give it a few weeks, to when I (hopefully) start on my next batch.. You’ll feel MUCH better about yours. 😂
Not likely. I have never seen better paint work than yours, so I'm just going to prepare to be more ashamed of myself lol.

Way ahead of you there bro. I was actually thinking about begging and pleading with this guy I know in Frezno to create me a logo design for the doors so I could send it off to Boom Graphics to get some decals made to hide some of this embarassment. But I remembered Google Gemini and ChatGPT might come through with something cool.

I kinda like this. Nice and simple.

This might look cool if the beatle guy were facing the front of the car.

If by some chance you are feeling bored, I would say good things about you in at least a dozen posts for hooking a brotha up with with some of your awesome artwork. And I would even have a Team Dust Devil logo printed in the same color scheme to decorate the top, and/or a TDD Windshield banner might look cool 😁

But I am actually happy with a couple of these designs, so I will likely have a couple of them printed into decals regardless.
