Perhaps a silly question, but I'm just wondering.

I'm considering buying a replacement TRX 2.5 for my T-Maxx. Just to have it ready if the one I allready am driving now should break. I live in Denmark and it will be quite expensive for me to return the broken one in and use Traxxas's Return option. I might as well buy a new one from Tower or something.

Then I got thinkin' .

How long can I "store" the new engine before the 1st use.. ? Or is there no restrictions ??

Regards

There are no restrictions on storing them, just maintenance routines.

Keep the piston at bottom dead center

Keep the carb opening capped

Plug the exhaust port

Either put in a glow plug or some other plug

Oil LIBERALLY! This is the most important part. You dont want rust! Every so often, oil it again.

The goal is to keep all debris and moisture out as well as keep it lubed.

I finalize storage by putting it in a zip lock bag

Thank you for the quick reply.

Sealing the engine then.

At work we have some thick plastic bags with a nozzle and a vacuum device that fits. They use it to store computerparts for long time in a special room with controlled temparature and moisture.

I will use one of them I think after sealing off the engine.

Thanks again.

to send ur motor back to traxxas it doesn't cost anything if it is under warranty. all u would have to pay for is the shipping. i have done it many of times. just put a note in the box with a motor telling them what is wrong and then will fix it and send it back.

But that's exactly my point / problem.

Shipping costa from Denmark to the USA is sky high if I want some sort of tracking possibility (And believe me I do want that hehe)

Perhaps I will ude the engine return feature when I have like 2 or 3 busted engines. Shipping of 1, 2, or 3 is the same..

I contacted Traxxas in the UK, but they did not accept the broken engines. :-(

Regards.

O:D i didnt think that u lived in denmark. in that case u better wait then. that would be a nice chunk of money.
