Does a 200W charger charge your battery twice as fast as a 100W charger?

Yes, but no. What usually happens is the wattage is divided between all the channels when charging multiple batteries at the same time. I wouldn't say it cuts the charging time in half, but i will be alot faster.

Not to argue with comments for or against spectrum smart chargers... but I went a different way, I bought the gensacearespammers D300 dual, it does 300watts across 2 channels, or 750w if powered off DC. It also charges my g-tech smart batteries (automagically) as well as every other type of battery my RC's require. Had my 1st introduction to battery charging be from some of the comments here... I might have bought the hota d6 (or whatever was recommended above). However when doing my initial research I came across the imars III pro (ac only) that charged at 100watts and upto 10 amps, and since the 1st battery the company that sold me my 1st RC car was a gensacearespammers 5300mah g-tech battery ... it seems like a reasonable choice and it has worked perfectly. I saw a chance to upgrade (for the same reason the OP is... I needed to be able to charge multiple batteries at once.), I bought the G/A D300 off aliexpress (using paypal) for $104. It took a while to get it but since recieving it, have been extremely happy with it, I even took it and used my monster 8000mah 3s to charge several of my 2s batteries while at my son's house. Bottom line is I can charge 3 at a time, including g-tech (2 of those at a time) and any other type of std RC battery with the exception of 1s of which I only have a couple of small RC's that use those. Sorry for possibly belaboring the point to the OP.

So instead of buying in to Spektrums proprietary crap, you bought in to Gens proprietary crap? IDK why you would want to pay inflated prices for crappy Gens batteries. Yeah, the charger itself is fine, in fact it's probably the only other charger I know of in the price point with comparable specs, but It's still a toss up spec wise. Sure, the D300 has a few extra watts, but it still has the same amperage limits as the HOTA. The HOTA D6 pro has a 1.6A balance current where the D300 only has 1.2A, so this makes the little bit of extra wattage mostly irrelevant.

So I said all of that to say this, While I wouldn't necessarily knock anyone for buying a D300, I wouldn't recommend it over the HOTA just because I don't think Gens is a very good quality brand. Their batteries are mostly junk and while the bashing line seems to be ok, It costs twice as much as other better quality batteries out there. If their batteries aren't any good, I have to suspect their chargers aren't that high of quality either regardless of specs. Just my :2cents:

Ok I thought I stated, had I read yours and others comments before buying the imars III pro or D300 I would have bought the hota, as far as the G/A batteries, the 2 I have are working every bit as good as the others. I admit to being very new to all this, but I can tell when something does not work well. I only have one 8c battery and it is a g-tech I bought on amains site during a flash sale for like $50, both of my chargers charge it at 1c (8amps)quickly and as far as I can tell safely. Thats all I know.

I have a couple Gens batteries. The only reason I bought them is because they were on sale for a pretty good deal, and I was already placing an order for other items. I don't hate em. But I won't buy more of them. And that D300 doesn't look like a bad charger.

It seems a lot of the big name companies that sell other RC stuff like RC's, chargers, radios, etc, that also sell batteries, tend to price their batteries much higher than companies that just sell LiPo batteries. And they aren't any better than other batteries sold for much less money. Proprietary anything in RC is a scam, and a complete money grab. So just be aware of that.

yep I love my D300, and the gens batteries will charge on any std charger vs the spectrum system so theres that. Also you quoted my comment before I fixed it... I charge at 1c not 8c.
