hey guys,
so my truck is pretty much completly broken in, iam gonig to start leaning it out real soon, anyways I have started driving it alot faster, and set up a jump today etc. and I probobly rolled it in turns at least a dozen times, and flipped it off my jump, having it go end over end about a half dozen times, am I going to break something really soon doing this, or is this ok, my jump only brings the truck about 2 feet in the air, so its not to high although sometimes it lands pretty hard, anyways wondering if this is ok, or if I should be more carefull and wondering how often you roll/flip/crash your trucks?
ps I have the kyosho madforce, pics are posted in another thread to see its design if u wish.

Well, eventually, you will break something if you keep flipping it or landing it on it's lid. I still have my Savage end up wheels up as well.

There are some things you can do to mitigate the damage, though:

* Run with a body, especially if you are going to be bashing and jumping.
* Put ty-wraps on the engine head to protect it in case of a rollover (I'll try to find a picture of what I'm referring to and post it).
* After a really hard landing or rollover, take a minute to check your truck over quickly. A bent shock shaft may lead to bigger problems later. Better to catch it up front to avoid more expensive damage later.

I'm sure someone else will offer some additional ideas as well!

i wouldnt go to hard with that truck unless you have replacement parts or a lhs that carries them. i heard parts for that truck can sometimes be hard to find.

there nothing wrong with jumping your truck just try to land on the wheels as much as possible.

I crash & roll & flip my revo & lst2 all the time. this is something that you just have to do. you have to take thingsa to the limit,,, it's human nature. you should just have a backup truck so you can have one to drive while the other one is down with broken arms & legs! :) & just keep truckin' on a hmm hmm.

my on road i almost never crash (it would be horrible news if i did(broke pillowballs and shock towers last time))
my drake i tumble all the time.. off road cars seem to handle it pretty well

after time youll learn how to control it in the air so you wont roll/wreck as often. But youll only learn that by practice, so roll on. You WILL break some parts though. Kinda comes with the territory. From the sounds of it, Kyosho isnt to fun to find parts for right now.

hey I would really like to see pics of the ty-wraps on the engine to protect it, I have tons around and sounds like it might help, has anyone built any type of roll cage or anything also, something out of some heave duty welding rod or somthin would probobly be pretty easy to build and I could see lots of diferent ways to mount it to help protect the parts etc...

OH man... have I rolled and crashed! That is why I don't spend a bunch of time putting a perfect paint job on the lid. Cuz after a few minutes it won't look new any more. The guys are right though, the more you drive the more control you will have. I still break stuff though... kinda comes with the teritory. Although you increase your chances the more you roll though. Of course I have no problems controling the truck until I call my fiance out to watch me. Then before I know it, I am barrell rolling accross the parking lot!

Ditto

Practice, Practice... That is all I can say. I'm still getting used to jumping my Revo. I roll that thing every which way but loose. I do it so much my body is shot....but I'm getting better each time. I take me a box of spare parts with me just in case I do break something.

Have fun with it

Never...I never EVER EVER ROLL MY truck.....I am perfect and expect ALL to bow to my perfection in driving skill...

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz {wake-up}

oh man I was dreaming I never rolled my truck, I woke up and was reading RCNT....setup is key in limiting rollovers on turns...driving skill will keep the wheels down on jumps.....if the truck is flipping forward in the air goose the throttle a lil and the front will lift up...if the front is too high then tap the brakes in the air and it will come down....try to NOT turn the steering in the air if it's level already....they will twist and land on one wheel...that's how most people break stuff, tagging walls w/ one wheel or landing hard on one wheel....try different shock positions and oil weights.....there's a personal prefference part of the hobby you will have to figure out for yourself.....just jump in and try it.....

I had a problem with alot of roll overs on turns. I came to find out that I over filled my shocks, which didnt let them compress like they were supposed to causing me to end up on my lid on high speed turns. Also, like previously mentioned, I tweaked with my ride height and suspension settings depending on what type of surface I was running. Hope that helps!

This coming from the guy that won the painting contest?!?!?! :opps:

The Ty Wrap idea is trcik. Also try running your suspension a bit lower if you plan to take turns at speed a lot.

Tied for the win!

I still have that lid too, I am almost afraid to run it! I have never won anything before... and if I don't keep the lid... nobody will believe me! LOL

We ought to have a before and after contest to see how bad we trashed our lids!

Well, my entry has a few battle scars already!
My sorry little paint job hasn't got a scratch on it yet. But I figure it will be tore all to hell before the next contest comes around. :)

Jason, run it like ya stole it. That is what makes the hobby fun.
If you aren't wrenching...... You aren't running it hard enough.

Crash/Roll alot??
Well, let me just say that the first day I actually ran a buggy ever, I should have painted the bottom of it, as I saw that part of it as much or more than the top, lol.

If I had ever owned a 1:1 car that had this kind of hp/weight ratio, I'd have died along time ago!
