Hello All -

I posted earlier that I was having problems with my sportwerks .26 in my Mayhem. It turns out that the front bearing was leaking a bunch of fuel when it's running so I'm guessing that's why the thing would act funny. Anyway, I went to Hobby People looking for a cheapo engine. I found a brand new SH .28 for $99 so I took it and put it in the Mayhem.

My question is that the engine is rated to 28,000 RPM. I think most buggy engine spin around 33,000 RPM or so. Does this mean I have to re-gear to get my buggy going about the same speed with the SH .28 as it did with my sportwerks .26?

Oh - I also found that the the fly wheel nut on the sportwerks .26 was loose; the flywheel itself didn't seem loose though. tsk, tsk...just no maintenance at all!

You'll find that the low end power is scary with the SH. I would suggest break it in as normal, then make your decision as you run it. Make sure your tires are glued well!

I applaud you on putting the SH .28 in a buggy. I put it in my Mammoth and I blew every diff in that truck. God I love that engine. You should still have really good speed with your buggy though. Good luck with the engine
