I think i've always known I was depressed, but my ADD suspisions (sp?) have been realized relatively recently. Believe it or not, i'm very smart, but through both high school and college, i've always had trouble applying myself. Since going to college, my study habits have gotten worse and as a result my grades are absolutely horrible.
So I took it upon myself to see if I actually have ADD because at the rate i'm going, i'll never get my AA degree much less go onto a 4 year college (i goto a community college). So yesterday I went to a psychiatrist to get diagnosed. It was pretty obvious I had it because almost every question he asked I said yes to.
He did diagnosed me with depression but said he'd like to concentrate on treating the ADD and see what effect it has on the depression. He prescribed me Adderral. 40mg in the morning, then 20mg in the evening.
Yesterday I took one pill and felt great. Today i'm on the normal dose and I do see a big difference in my alertness and willingness to do stuff i would either never do, or procrastinate hella.
From what little research i've done, it seems like there's a lot of people who are taking adderral. And i'm sure there are a few on the board. If you, or your child are taking adderral (or any other ADD medication), what has been your experience with it? Did you experience any side effects at the beggining, if so did they go away?
The only real side effects i've noticed so far is loss in appetite and trouble getting adaquate sleep (I slept for about 4 hours last night then woke up and couldn't fall asleep for an hour...then got another 3 hours of sleep).
