Just picked this up today. TLR 22 5.0 (semi elite). Hobbywing 10bl120 SD esc. Fantom 17.5 motor. 4 gear - gear diff with 12k oil for carpet. Also included a ball diff for dirt. Cactus rear tires. Fuzz bite front tires. Worn but will get me going. Exotec aluminum steering rack. Upgraded titanium turnbuckles. Upgraded f/r sway bars. MIP rear axles. 28t lightweight aluminum pinion gear. Yeah Racing motor fan. Should be dialed for carpet. Just need servo, Rx and batteries.

For servo going to put in what I have as spare which is a 25kg Amazon servo. I know it isn't the best but it will get me going. Will upgrade to a lower end ProTek servo like the 140T low profile.

Receiver - Flysky NB4

Batteries - currently going to share packs from my B74 which are CNHL 5200 120C shorty packs. (And I still have a spare maclan 6100 pack)

Body isn't the best shape but I will be getting a Proline Axis body soon to match the mini b (which I still have to paint that one up) and the B74.

Edit: after writing this up the servo I have which is standard size does not fit since I cannot move it back further to get the servo mounts to line up with the chassis so a low profile servo is required. Unless there's a different way I can move it back further since I ain't moving the esc (cause if I do it will hit the battery/battery tray.

But still super excited for this!

Also if anyone has any advise for any advanced carpet setups or indoor high grip dirt setups I will appreciate it! 2wd setups are a bit different from 4wd, from the knowledge I gained lol. Also here is TLR 2wd vs AE 4wd.

Actually it's moving it forward since it is too big I guess.
Move the steering link to the back side of the horn. Insert the ball stud from the back side, then install the horn. Then put spacers between the servo and the mount to push the servo forward to line the link up.

See if that will work. If the link hits the servo, find a taller horn. Maybe this would do.

If the ball stud is too tall, replace it with just a regular ball and use a 3mm buttonhead screw from the back side. That will give you more clearance.

Moved the ball stud to the other side, put locktite on it and a lock nut on the other side. Didn't add spacers, it was just because the left servo mount had an additional screw hole and the right side only had one. (Operator error lol) Guess previous owner did that for either fitment issues or it was there from the factory, but all fixed now. Servo is a cheap hexfly one. Does have a bit of resistance when turning it from hand and isn't as smooth and free as my Xpert in the B74 but will get me going.

Umm... pics?

When throwing in a servo that's not what TLR designers used for testing/manual, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Orientation of ball stud, servo height, servo ears/tabs, mounts...If it works, it works. Previous own must have had similar servo issue as those don't look like stock servo mounts for intended linkage/ball stud orientation for servo horn offset.

Well took the NB4 receiver out of my mini b which was having issues with cutting out. Put it in here and got all the wiring situated nicely (somewhat lol) got it all calibrated and ready to go. Test drove it in the alley and had no issues. Guess the esc wire in the mini b was the issue. For the test drive I took a old worn set of slicks from my wheeler. It's cold and it was sliding everywhere but just for a test drive it was ok. 17.5 is not fast as the 13.5 in the wheeler but should get me going. Batteries, I do like the rubber band battery straps. Although they are a bit hard to get in with a full size shorty pack. Maybe in the future I will look into low profile lipos if anyone has experience with them.

When I get to the track I'll do some shake down laps and maybe race it. But I will need new tires after that first track day lol. All I need is to get in my transponder and it will be ready. Minus a good looking shell 🫠

🤷
Was thinking Proline axis to match the Mini B which I still have to paint up lol. Or something from Jcon or LFR like normal.
Lol! Good thinking! I forgot you had the "Bomb Pop" team theme going! 👍
I bet extra weight from that servo will help your front end stay down. 🤔

Ok so I just figured it out. I found a pair of rear pin swag rubbers from my B74 from the old track. Tread looks new. Gonna use them on here and get new premounted pin swags. Should work hopefully on the 2 tracks Ill be running on.

First Raceday with the TLR and I didn't even run it before qual 1 today. But I got used to it fairly quickly as it does drive like the Mini B. Tires are a bit worn but were perfect traction and manageable for me. Servo is quite slow which did (imo) slowed down my results and reaction time since it isn't speedy enough. New servo soon. Either Protek 140T low pro, i9MOD(@luke66 recommends, is it offered in low pro though?) or either a power HD B5. Tires and new body Ill save for later down the road. Only running one transponder so just using double sided tape on the servo to hold it on. Later practice between Quals 1/2, axle flew off. Thought it broke for good but this axle is a different concept, it is a MIP Pucks axles, the screw for the stub axle just unthreaded and I saw it on the track so I got it all put back together and with blue loctite to finish the day. (Thanks @BarnFabRC for the help) Check out my race blog thread for more ;)

Also raced it at the Factory the other weekend for an awards race and got 5th out of 7 in the D main. Not that bad. But today just got in a new body, PL Axis, and some new carpet tires. ProMotion Vipers both front and rear in Green. Got premounted fronts but had to get Jcon wheels for the rear since premounts were out of stock, no biggie. Gonna paint it up tomorrow to get it done and out of the way before going back to school.
