If TLR rises up and released a 6.0 in the future I highly doubt it at this point but I would be really surprised if they would.
Well Ill be darned. They did.
And if potentially the 6.0 parts can be cross compatible with the 5.0 I'd love that more.
Right. Not...
Sighs.

Guess Ill start up my savings fund for a new 22X 2wd.
Maybe not. 22 5.0 on carpet is still a blast. I just feel like I should have two 2wd's so I can have one for carpet and one for clay use. Since setups are totally different.

@hood52 I got a servo horn the losi 22 5.0 official one you screenshotted above on the way from AMain. Should have it figured out by next race day whenever that would be lol. Been busy the past few weeks. Plus ordered tons of parts and stuff since I haven't ordered anything major since January  shocking.

Got that official 5.0 horn in and looks to be working as normally and much smoother steering too. Was hard to get the horn on the servo at first.
Also just full out did a full end rebuild. didn't rebuild the diff or shocks as they are dialed and didn't want to mess up anything setup wise so just a clean up. Also rear right arm was binding. Hinge pin wasn't bent. It was really stuck in the pill on the C block. Put it all back together and it goes up/down freely. Weird but ok.

I'll probably tidy up wiring and get it fully running once my AMain comes in with some new general needs stuff - ie double sided tape - the good kind - as what I have right now is Harbor frieght foamy kind of tape that leaves residue like you see on top the servo lol.

Stop at a napa on your way to the hobby shop next time. Buy some 3m weatherstrip adhesive. Best servo tape EVER!!! Bring your $$$ tho.

I hear the 'gray' tape is stronger than the black stuff I use. Might be harder to remove too tho. 🤷‍♀️

Yea I used ProTek clear servo tape and gray high tac tape and they worked well for me so that's what i reordered. But I'll see what napa has once I run out ;)

Oh yea, 22 5.0, complicated gear box, don't you think Horizon??? Lol.

If you don't need it 'right now', shop for better prices on that tape. Napa stocks good stuff but is usually pricey too. 😉
Just shop for 3M automotive weatherstrip adhesive tape and see what strength, size etc...

I don't think I ever tried clear servo tape. 🤔😎

Hey guys!

I’m new to the forum and I’m just getting into RC buggy racing. I’m currently building a TLR 22 5.0 AC. I’m going for a Hobbywing V10 G4R 17.5T motor with a Xerun XR10 Pro Pro Stock Spec G2 ESC.

Can anyone please give me a recommendation as to what size and RPM fan I should go for and what position? Do I need to put a fan on top of the ESC or/and a fan for motor cooling as well?

What fan sizes are supported by the integrated motor fan mount?

Thanks in advance and cheers from Düsseldorf, Germany! 🇩🇪 🙂✌🏽

René

Great motor have one myself.
Great esc choice too have one in my 4wd associated buggy

For the motor and the integrated fan mount in the side rail, it can use both 25 or 30mm fan. I used to have a 25mm yeah racing plastic fan which was ULTRA loud but kept cool. Upgraded to a generic aluminum 30mm fan still keeps the motor cool and is much quieter.
If you're just running a full race length being 5-8 minutes shouldn't really need a fan especially for 17.5 but if the esc does get a bit hot you'd want to add it back on just in case. Typically don't want my escs over 120 F degrees. For motors around 175 F is my limit, although in HW settings the thermal cutoff is set much higher.

Motor: yes you'd want a fan
Esc: only if you're running for extended time/practice sessions or if it does get a bit toasty.

The stock spec G2 with a 13.5 in my 4wd buggy I don't run a fan since it blew up on me lol, I only run it for a max of 8 minutes before I let it cool down. Also bc the stock spec esc uses a odd 20mm fan which is hard to find apparently.

The Protek clear servo tape is all I use. It's really good stuff.

Confirmed
HW LED prg card works with the 10BL120 SD G1 esc.
So I changed some things which lvc back up to 3.2v/cell, got reverse now too.
Although I got it and it looks used like they're scratches on it. Put on the 10BL120 G2 sticker I got when I got the combo for the rustler. But it works so ill take it as a win.
Dang just realized this esc doesn't have adjustable BEC. Weird. wanted to push it up to 7.4. Guess ill have to get the G2 version of the esc or a xerun to do that. Dang. :( Well to be fair, this powerhd servo has enough torque and speed already. Send it.

Ah so the 10BL120 SD G2 HAS adjustable BEC, Turbo AND Boost timing, and motor rotation setting. While the G1 does NOT have adjustable BEC, preset at 6v @ 3A. Does not have motor rotation setting nor any temp cutoff setting and just a generic timing setting not turbo/boost.

Honestly going through all of this I MIGHT switch out servos. Putting my Xpert 4000LV into here and putting this power HD in my wheeler bc this esc is 6v non adjustable my xpert servo is 6.6v max i believe, perfect for this car and since its 2wd I don't need loads of speed/torque. Putting the B5S PowerHD in my wheeler would be an upgrade since I can adjust BEC with the esc in there plus faster motor fan ie more better cooling ;)

Power HD:
6v: 16kg, 0.065/60
7.4v: 18kg, 0.055/60

Xpert:
6v: 17.50kg, 0.080/60

Well I did just that. Should be going to first state later this month for a full on practice day with only my 2 buggies just to test and tune and try out new things. I know its a down grade from the PH servo but it should still be fine. Atleast its slightly better than a equivalent priced Low Pro servo.

Raced it for the 2nd time on clay this past weekend. HUGE difference with continiously prepping and reconditioning these old tires and a local guy came out to me and said tighten up your slipper and add a couple mm's of ride height. Did exactly that and WOAH. 2wd is pretty fun now lol. Also could be that the servo swap could have made the car overall less twitchy

First time:
Better current race:

The 1st gen vs G2 is a huge difference. G2 is way smoother, way more throttle control. The gen1 was great, the G2 is what it always should have been.

Yea. Was planning on new esc in this anyways like bl120 G2 or xr10 stock spec but the G1 esc I got with the car still works and functions and I like how it drives so. Gonna keep it til I "need" to upgrade, whenever that may be lol.
