OK, How long does a clutch last? I drove my car twice and the clutch, well lets just say it turned to poop. :flaming: My questions are:

Why does the clutch burn up?
How long does a clutch last?
Is this normal that the clutch burns up after driving it twice?

Thanks

No that's generally not normal. Generally you should get at least 3 tanks of fuel through it before your clutch goes. :D Anyway, here's a couple of questions at you what kind of RC are we talking about? Was this a kit or RTR? If it was a kit what brand of shoes are you using? Fill in a few details and we can probably give you a solution to your problem.

Ok, I have the Menace 21, by Schumacher. That comes in 2 options,. 1 is the RTR and the other comes 80% rtr, I just had to get the servos and remote and other miner crap.

I spoke to Schumacher about this and they told me to mail the clutch back to them and they will replace it for no charge. They also said that this shouldent happen.

So the clutch that was in there is the one that came with the car. I went to my LHS and they said that that clutch has to come from schumacher.I went to the website and it is only $6.95. But I dont understand why, its not a schumacher engine. Maybe you know more about this. I think I could put a different clutch in there. I mean it is a .21 engine and its not a schumacher part, so what the problem. Unless I'm wrong about this, please tell me if i am. And If I could get a different clutch (a better one), what website should I go to.
Thanks

I take it your kidding El? I have 2 gallons on my OS 21 RG maxx, and it's still hooking up just fine. I tear it apart at about 1/2 gallon and wire brush the glaze off, then i'm good to go.

at least 3 tanks?? Maybe a little more like three gallons depending on conditions. You should be able to get a lot more use out of them even if it is a cheep clutch set. Ya have to wonder if the springs were not put on properly and came off or what?? Are your clutch shoes just burned up or what what happened??

Check out the photos of my clutch. I took 3 pictures of it. I dont think it should look like that after drivng it 1 time.

Hmmm I have a guess as to what happened here. Well this happened to me and it looks like what happened. With that clutch you have to cut it on one end in order for it to move freely. Looks to me as if that was not done. I remember the first racer clutch from HPI I bought this happened and the clutch fried. Look at the second clutch picture I think that is what happened.

what am I supposed to cut. I'm fairly new to this. I have 3 more clutches coming in the mail, so does this mean that I have to cut all of them? I'm not sure.

So basically just make sure that they come apart. Thanks for your help

Yep and that's good advice. As for why the Schumacher Menace doesn't come with a Schumacher brand engine. Thunder Tiger makes the ABC engines for most or all of the Schumacher cars and trucks. Thunder TIger also makes some nitro engines for Team Associated now.

Enjoy your truck bro, It's fast as hell and I'd seriously advice in a parachute hop up.
