I have a novarossi 421b motor this past weekend i went to denver colorado and raced it i'm running ofna blue alluminum shoes and the black springs that come with them. The first heat i lasted about two minutes then i broke a spring so i put in three new silver springs the next heat it lasted about four minutes so then i put in mugen silver shoes and ofna silver springs they lasted almost the five minute heat but broke the track was rock hard so iwas wondering was that my problem or is something else wrong? Has anybody else had any cluch spring problems and if so how did you fix it?

When i put together the motor i bought the ofna blue alluminum shoes the had black and silver springs in the packet tried the black ones first then went to silver dont have any other ones just wondering which ones you're talking about when you say the original ones.

Where did the spring break? As in, what part of the spring?

Also, did the springs all break in the same place?

this might be a stupid question, but were the clutch shoes put in the right way? I've done that before and didn't have very good results maybe that was it?

Just a shot in the dark.

They broke right where the come around the shoe the part that puts pressure on the spring was fine right after the coil on the top of the shoe. I think there put in the right way if not would'nt the just slip?

Hmmm...if you have a digital camera, a picture of the broken springs and a picture of your set up would be a great help.

are you running the correct bell or correct shoes it sounds to me that they are over extending past the flex point and all that stress is making them break, what I'm saying is there may be to much clearance between the shoes and the bell when disengaged

I dont have digital camera the only thing i saw was there is a groove in the clutch bell would this make the springs brake also i noticed on the new shoes silver mugen ones that only the very top was scuffed up not the tip of it. should the whole curve of the shoe be scuffed up?

From what you just said is sounds like your clutchbell is too big or your shoes are too small and the springs are stretching too much. Had you changed anything before you went to Denver? Clutchbell/shoes/springs?

No it ran great here in wyoming idrove five or six tanks on the street at my house before the race and had no problems. Ithought that all cluch bells were the same size also the clutch shoes aren't that old the still look good they are blue ofna shoes and the clutch bell came with my hyper 7 pcr/rtr

have you compared the shoes to the stock shoes? they might be shorter then the stock shoes, or they might be thinner causing the spring to expand more.

do they make different size clutch bells? Is mine just shaving down in size from using alluminum shoes?
