So I was charging my battery for the big rock
I'm still able to drive em around so it's helping me walk more so that's a plus.
Well I only have 1 3s hardcase battery and it was dead, so I threw it on to charge.
Thought I'll just watch a little TV while we wait. You know relax a little while it charges...
Well I woke up a few hours later.... Much too relaxed.
I hear beep beep....
Sleepy brain says hey whys the charger making a sound?.....
Hope up as quick as I can, now wide awake and hobble into the den.... That 20-30 min charge turned into 4 Hours on the tap!!!!!
Wife and her friend just chilling like 4 feet from this battery that's about to pop
Unplugged it and tossed it gently into the front yard to be rained on and put it out of my brain for a few weeks
Note to self
No more naps while charging lipos.....

I'm picturing a fast hobble to the front door... then a slow walk (with a few moans and groans) back to the chair.

Looks like a 3S1P pack to me. Just out of curiosity, is it a 3S2P LiPo pack? And the electrical tape on there was from a previous puffing event?

it says 3s1p. whats thast mean? it was the gensacearespammers that came with the truck, i taped it cause it would pop open after a big crash,the casing just seperated at the seam, it wasn't showing any signs of damage untill i overcharged it tho.

I'm afraid of driving a fireball.. keeps me from nitro,

i use a dota d6, ill have to watch a few videos on the settings, i usually just plug it in and hit charge, as i charge em next to my computer area so I'm generally within reach of it

I know I'm unwise, but I leave em on the charger routinely while bashing or whatever. Scary. Never had a charger not shut off, yet.

I'm guilty of forgetting about it on the charger as well. My charger has always turned off when the charge is complete.

@majin, I totally haven't a clue what time limit/capacity limit defaults are on Hota chargers, but get in there and find out change things...

I don't know your charging practices, but for 1C charge rates I'd set Safety Timer to 70 minutes just in case some LiPo cells are needing more time to fully balance.

I have seen this menu, skipped right on through. I'm going to take this advice and at least limit how long it can potentially over charge for. Good advice, thanks.

Images above are both 2S 5000mah packs, but the 2S2P uses two parallel groups of two smaller capacity cells, connected in series, to achieve the larger capacity (that 2S2P pack has 4 cells). I've always had trouble wrapping my head around the "2P" packs not being able to "see" internal resistance of both cells that are used in the pairs.

Make sure you guys are charging in fireproof containers! If a lipo goes up, you are likely not going to have time to pick it up and toss it out the nearest door. I know I'm guilty of not always doing that myself but I need to be better about it.

Which is why I charge outside in the shade. I just have to unplug power and contain it to a couple square feet.

Which is why I charge outside in the shade. I just have to unplug power and contain it to a couple square feet.

I do a twist on this.
I charge inside but I make everyone ELSE stand outside. This way everyone is safe!
I like to be comfy in my chair while I charge.

I've got an ammo can i store them in ( absolute lie. i GOT the can to do that with but have since just let it sit empty) i am such a dumb.
i now only charge them when I'm able to see them
and keep this pack in front of m,y monitor as a reminder as to why i dont leave them unattended anymore.
i also have some settings set now to cut off after 90 mins

max capacity set to 5k

have tightend up on the safty after that scare
which is the big 3s that i have at @Greywolf74 recomendation. ( but i now know how to set this setting based on the battery I'm charging at the time)

Glad you all are ok and your lucky to still have a house standing count your blessings brotha ...may I suggest you get your self a real good smart charger..one that shuts off automatically when finished charging. I hope you also charge them lipos in a lipo fire proof bag.or ammo box..
