Now i'm talking the Special 1. Would it be better to buy a new car over a used one? Most K3 on Ebay are going for over $400. Summer coming (4 months away :) ). I'd like to start getting ready.

It really depends on the condition of the used car. I've gotten some on Ebay there were more or less as good as new. Other ones weren't exactly as described. It's sort of a crap-shoot, which is why new is usually better because you know its condition.

yeah I got my K III from a person on this board was fortunate that the car was just like he described it...price $360.

Just be patient...you have to remember the car is rarely the limiting factor but rather driving skill is so I would go with a used buggy...strip it down and rebuild it completely so you know how to work on it. Can find out what needs to be replaced, get rid of binding, and make sure everything is in good shape...in the long run it will get rid of headaches down the line....

Very good advice. Strip it down to get a clear view of what condition it is really in. I have purchased a K2 with upgrades and ended up buying new diff cases due to incorrect shimming. Need less to say I sold that afterwards and bought other things. Look on ebay as they do have great deals but be careful on those ones that say K2 with K3 upgrades as they just might put in the radio tray and the arms. IMO that is not worth the cash.

I have a 9.mbx i got off of Ebay. Its a nice car just wanted something a little racier. I managed to beat k3, mugens, ... to win our points series. Must be the driver

Driver yes! a car can come between winning and losing when you get low quality parts that break easily. Congrats on your win!

if it was my cash, I'd save a little an go with the used k3. Kyosho is known to change very little (so I've read) between models. Having the 777 would be mostly bling.

yeah driving skill is a much bigger factor than the car you are driving...Matt Francis could grab something off the shelf of Radio Shack and beat 99% of the people....the guy can just flat out drive......

I was talking with my mech. yesterday and we were discussing setups for this weekend and glow plugs and I remarked the engine really isn't what is keeping me out of 22 seconds laps...it is my crappy driving! The engine nor buggy is rarely the limiting factor when racing....a good setup and smooth throttle finger help you go a long way.

If you can't control the monster how can you win with it?

I am running 23 second lap consistently and dipped into the high 22 sec laps so to say the monster is out of control is a little over the top.........small adjustments are all that is necessary

I've been told by a few people that they wish they didn't sell thier K3 to get a 777. Just hear say though. I've never owned either one.

I wan't jumping on your case. I was merely quoting you as an example. Control is key to winning. Guess there is more to understanding things in forum posts...

I am anger man! Grrrrr. I sit behind my keyboard and act like the biggest badass on the planet. Grrrr.
