Can someone tell me which i should get? I'm an old skool R/C guy and had brushed electric cars for years...for this specific truck is it worth it to go brushless? I know the brushless will have longer run times..but do they overheat more than the brushed versions? Money is not all that matters...but curious if you guys can make the case of one vs the other...i would want to do the 2nd pack and run them in series for the brushless one for insane speeds for fun..but will that cook the speed control or the motor faster and shut it down? Any advice would be great...thanks..

well just said screw it and and ordered the brusless one anyway....we'll see how it is!

i figured..saw the brushed one was only good for 8 cells max..and not a lot of choices in 380 motors out there....i'm gonna resist getting Lipo's as long as i can..but i may have to take the plunge at some point...sucks i need a new charger for them....should have it late next week and try it out on a lunch break :)

Yeah I've been a nitro man my whole life and decided to try out electric, and I'm glad i did. I recently purchased the E-Revo VXL and its a blast right outta the box. Even with the Traxxas nimh stick pack they sell it with its pretty fast and pulls wheelies. I wanted more speed and runtime so I took the plunge into lipo, which wasn't that bad after all. After reading alot of forums I heard alot about this site www.hobbycity.com, which sells lipos for dirt cheap. I was skeptical about such low priced batteries but purchased them anyways and WOW, they are amazing. The 3S is way to fast for anything but speed runs, and the 2S is perfect for racing and bashing. Here are the products that I bought and use:

I would try to buy everything you need at once because the shipping is crazy expensive. Hope this helps :D

Yeah it needs a power supply or car battery. I yanked the deep cell battery outta my boat and put it under the work bench. Works great and rarely have to charge it. Its not the best charger by far, but it does the job. I'm looking to get a better charger and from what I read this is the best bang for your buck out there.

But that little $30 will do the job for know, and it charges (2) 2S at once.

BTW the Mini Revo does run hot no matter how you drive the thing. I was told a 450 size heli heatsink will work. I'm gonna pick one up this weekend from my LHS and see if its true.

i was thinking of combining a motor plate heatsink and a can top heatsink....if you get one pleae post how it works..i won't have my revo till wednesday next week...want to take care of it the right way...

too late...already bought the brushless and proceeding to mod the heck out of it! :-)
