Well, i went home for the holidays and ended up breaking down about 500 miles from home, and 100 miles from where i was going. $245 and a 1.5 hour tow truck ride later (after sitting in the 30deg weather and wind for 2 hours.) I get the car to my moms place. My brother is a mechanic so he starts checking it out. At first we think its got compression, but were not getting any fire. So we replace the coil, and the icu, with no luck. Once we got further into the engine we realize its the timing belt :( (working on the car in the cold and sleet with no garage or cover). It bent valves and all kinds of stuff (broke going down the interstate about 85mph..)

So. since i had already stayed longer then i had planned, and was missing work. My mom offered to drive us back to texas and i went searching for a new car. (i didnt have time to wait on them to tear it down, send the heads off, and all that crap)

now on to the good stuff!! my new (to me) car!

2002 honda accord v6 ex. fully loaded, electric everything, sun roof, and leather!

108,000 miles, and a price tag of $8995 i couldn't complain. monthly payments are right at $200

Ahh yes. Great ride. You will love it. I almost got that ride but I had bigger ride come around. Love it and it will love you back!!!

nice ride. i had the sporty version of it until last year and never had any issues with it. at 103k miles the clock light finally gave out. lol. aside from that just regular upkeep and it will run for years.

had my dad not needed a 'new' i'd still have it. now he's driving it and i have the new TL...

Wow... those things have an insane resale value! 9G's for 100K+ miles.

Nice looking car though. I may be looking for another rig in the course of the next year... I'm about to roll up on 160K. Just paid it off this month, so now I own it. (98 mercury grand marquee)

yea the last 2 cars i had were accords. a 92 that had 309,000+ when i sold it, the 95 had 240,000 when it died, and now this one. the blue book on this car is over $11,000 so i got a good deal!

the engine on the 95 (the one that broke) only had like 70 or 80k because i got water in the engine and the insurance replaced it with a newer one. but they refused to change the timing belt when they put it in... bastages..

Man! Those things just run and run! Did you ever have to do anything major to them? Were the 4 cyl or 6 cyl?

Sorry... I know little about honda's other than after seeing this thread... I should be learning more for the kind of miles I crank through.

the timing belt broke on the 92 but didnt wreak havoc like the 95 did. that is the weak point on these engine. needs to be changed every 70k or so. other then that, the car will fall apart before the engine gives up the goat. ac system, cooling system, etc.. both were the 4cyl

both the 92 and the 95 had ac problems, (leaks) and the thermostat went out on the 92. I've also had problems with the rad and condenser fans on both the old cars, but its hot as hell here.

as far as i know the 92 is still going but i think the trans finally had to be replaced, and the 95 will have the damage to the engine fixed and sold.

i drove both those cars like go carts and they lasted me over 150k a peice.

i am sold on honda's. for a regular milling around town, or commuter car, you can't beat them. and this new one has all the luxury stuff in it to boot.

now they have a truck, so i want to see how the rep on that one is.

I've got a 2002 Civic with 56k and I paid just shy of 10,000 for it. No problems at all and you can't beat the gas mileage! I can get about 350 miles to the 13 gallon tank so thats about....... 27MPG. But running the AC knocks that down to about 24. Probably cause its a 1.8L 4-cylinder. No complaints at all.

Sounds like ya had a pretty interesting holiday. Not any fun working on something out in the weather. Only thing I could think of that I hate worse.....

maybe car shopping. :)
Hope ya did get to spend some time with family.

Nice ride Beason. Should last you a long time.

Nice ride. I had a 2000 honda civic with just over 100k miles when it was stolen. I had full warranty until 100K miles and beat the hell out of that thing hoping it would blow or something and get a new motor before the warranty was up. Never had any problems with it. That was my second honda. Sold the first one with 290K miles and was still running strong. Hondas definitely hold up pretty well.

100k miles on a honda is barely breaking it in.. My moms' Civic has about 90K on it, and you can't tell it's not new. The thing just purrs like a kitten. Nephew has one that has about 125K on it, and it's a strong runner too.

Ya can't beat a honda for reliability.

Great car Beason. My folks are still driving there 02 with over 100K on it. Great car and it should last you at least another 200K.

What is the car you can see though the passenger window in the third pic? The one with yellow calipers?

She already did the work for ya.

I had to help my Mom look for one about the same time. Man that was a bummer.
