This morn I went to Lou's Custom Exhaust in Wells, ME to get a few exhaust issues addressed.
I could have fixed it in the driveway but anyone who knows anything about working on dirty, rusty, sandy parts overhead also knows its no fun.

I broke it down into reasonable, easy to digest pricing in my head.
Job total quote was $350.
He rewelded 2 hangers, installed a 5year stainless muffler and removed rattling heat shields.
$100 for the parts, $100 for me to not have to climb under the car to repair it, $100 to not have to climb under it for the next 5 years should anything go wrong, $50 disposal fee for the rusted crap and swiss cheese heat shields.

The guy is 6'8"... Cartoonishly tall to watch getting in and out of an 06 Focus Sedan!!! That was worth a few bucks too!!! :hehe:

He was true to his quote, even knocked $10 off for my stunning good looks!

He was fast and did not try to bs me about an upcoming issue with the flex pipe. I knew already. He didn't try to upsell, panic sell... Just a reasonable quote on that job whenever it comes up.

The car is SO QUIET!!!! OMG!!! 🤫

So heres the thing... Lou's are independently shops but theres a bunch of shops in New England.

You all know I can be a very tough customer to please!!! 😤🤣

I 100% recommend this shop!!!
I left Lou's as a very happy customer today. No negative at all!😍🤯

I agree with ya. At home exhaust without a lift is no fun. In the garage, with a lift, and a proper set of torches...I can sling exhaust and bend straight stick in to custom pipes all day.
I worked for Monro for several years way back. They ran gas piped in off the street and oxy. Torches hanging from the ceiling on both sides of the car except the first and last bays. Pearson pipe bender/expander on site. That was a fun gig. Some days you burn/bend/hang the whole shift.

I was a wrench in a past life too. My friend worked at Meineke. The benders he used were pretty slick for sure!

I was pretty amazing with a fire wrench! Oxy/ace... I could cut a nut off a stud without disturbing a single thread on the stud.

I owned a salvage yard in Woburn.
Cutting cars in half, 1/4... That was fun!
