Oh,...please, be a $40.00 part!!!!..........Arg!!!! $104.00!!! *%#^%#@!!

A bent crank shaft.. you'd probably want to replace the front($20) and rear($51) bearings and probably as long as you're torn in this deep, another $12 on seals and gaskets, maybe. $187 total for parts.

$329.00 for a brand new engine=$142 dollar difference.
I added the entire parts list per piece price and that total came to $930.00 for all the parts to a $329.000 engine!!!!

My logic goes for the purchase of a brand new engine, and if my crank is indeed bent, (NOT certain, yet) I have a world of parts at my disposal from the used engine to use someday on my new one, because it seems the parts are marked up ridiculously high.

Yes?

My son was driving the Losi 8 up a tree (root ramps!) like a squirrel and landing like a cat. Then, after seven times of this and a fuel refill, it abruptly stalled while driving.

The clutch is locked on, won't start, clutch bell wobbles. My theory is a stone or stick jammed into the bell gear/ drive gear? My son picked it up right away by the rear spoiler, so, will never know for sure.

I got the engine out tonight, I checked first, it was rock solid tight installed, no wobble....had to wait for penetrating oil to work. At this time I know a clutch bearing is shot, and possibly the bell. When I take the bell off, I guess I'll know for sure the condition of the shaft.

Do these crankshafts bend easily on a O.S. ABC?

That'll be great! I appreciate your input. I already ordered a clutch parts assortment box a few days before this happened, it is almost due for an overhaul. I hope to get it friday. The bell might be at the lhs.

I agree with Racer, I doubt highly the crank is bent. I have never seen anyone bend a crank. I have seen lots of bad clutchbells and bearings over the years though. With a new clutchbell and bearings you should be good to go.

Bent crank, no. Busted crank, yes. The cranks are made out of high carbon steel that makes it very unlikely to bend but they will crack and break.

I've had two break over the past 9 years. One not in my hands but the LHS owner as I was chatting with him. He was tightening down the flywheel nut and the crank snapped off at the threads. The other was my own in my OS21RG. It cracked while running down inside the carb neck where the cut through is.
