Want another nitro truggy but dont want to deal with the racer mentality. The plan is to currently build a late model nitro truggy for as cheap as possible while remaining an effective and capable vehicle. This vehicle will be used for casual laps at the track, backyard bashing, and might even see a skatepark.

Nothing for this build will be purchased at full price. Items will be purchased either used or with minimum 10% discount.

The slider was relatively cheap and has a lot of miles on it, but is in great shape.

A large number of build parts have been ordered from Amain, taking advantage of the recent 20% off coupon. Also some of the items missing from the slider have been ordered from Jenny’s being sold as multiple bags from the kit, which was significantly cheaper than buying each individual piece and should also result in a decent spares bin.

Let’s go fast for cheap!

Cheap? What about racing a Tekno do you think is cheap?????
Cheap relative to the world of racing, this should come out to less than half the cost of building a new race kit. Might even come in at a lower cost than a new race engine and pipe combo! lol

And everyone knows Teknos don’t break! That oughtta save me plenty of money! 🤣

Originally was just going to purchase an rtr nitro truggy but looks like the losi will be discontinued soon, and the hpi would need some option parts to make it viable for what I want.

Breaks my heart that Kyosho recently discontinued the neo truggy.

You missing anything aside from the swaybar? I can’t help with that, but may be able to shoot you some other items.. I’ve got a new kit wing for instance unless you’ve already got one on the way. May even have a radio box lid. I’m happy to donate to the cause..

The comments heckling the direction/intention of this recipe amuse me… Used roller/slider is a very viable way to go when cost is an option, and far ahead of any RTR that must be constantly upgraded to be a contender… Seen both directions a million times..

Shoot me a DM when you can, and a list. I’ll donate anything I can brother. 🍻🤘

Interesting combination of words, budget and Tekno in the same sentence.
Considering the very truggy he’s building is a solid contender box-stock; it’s pretty common-especially a used slider/roller… Unlike an RTR grade vehicle, it doesn’t need a mountain of expensive upgrades right off the bat, they are arguably the most durable available, and parts are cheap. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nah I should be good to go now! Was only missing front sway bar, servo turnbuckle, Rx lid, air filter, clutch and bell. On Amain everything was like $130. All the little misc metal pivot balls and whatnot really adds up lol. Jenny's has it all sold per the bag. I think it was like 3 bags i needed for $80. Should give me a handful of misc spares too. Probably will pick up the alpha 3 shoe clutch and bell combo from Lutz. Then I've still got fresh wings and tires on the shelf left over from racing, although I'm contemplating getting a basher set of tires for when I'm not at the track.

Slider was $135 shipped, and $80 in parts from jennys. So coming in a little lower cost than a lot of the complete sliders I've seen. I'll have to add everything up at the end and see what total cost is.

It's gonna be a beast. What engine is it getting?

Dyna .28 & 053. Crazy that amain has the .28 listed for $100 + a 20% coupon. Hopefully it's not junk. My cousin runs the .21 in his HB D819 and it seems to do fairly well power wise. He even spent a whole day trying to blow the damn thing up so that hed have an excuse to upgrade and it just took it lol

It’s no problem at all man-just trying to help the cause… 🤘🍻🇺🇸

Didn’t expect this pipe to be such quality!
That pipe is seriously LEGENDARY… For good reason.. Wish Dynamite still made the hard coated “086”… That thing was a SCREAMER. 😳

Didn’t see that coming! 😅🤷🏻‍♂️
I was pretty stoked on this, but aiming for bigger things now that 92% of my RC time is wrenching at 2am while the little man is awake 😂
