Anybody else get this done?

Well i'm getting braces soon and there are many steps before that had to happen. Now I'm at the point where my surgery is coming up soon , the procedure enlarges my pallet(roof of mouth) by 3 mm in one shot , and i need to crank it open once a day till i reach at least 7 to 8 mm, crazy sh?t actually, so has anybody got this precedure done yet , (pallet enlargement) they now installed a mechanism today and its crazy how it cuts out the space in the mouth , just swallowing is weird now.here is a vid of what is going to happen, check it out , .......''CLICK ON VIDEO PRESENTATION'' THEN THE MIDDLE PIC OF THE ROOF OF MOUTH.

Didn't have that done, but I did go through the whole braces experience. I feel your pain.

braces should go smooth,except for when they adjust them everyweek, its the surgery i am afraid of ,it will make a big difference when i wake up , 3mm doesn't seem like much but when its between the teeth its a different story. and maybe , just maybe , i will have to get my jaws realigned in the futur if my teeth dont meet up correctly. thats going to be hell, at least 2 weeks with the teeth wired shut.

Sounds like a lotta pain. I dunno about you, but given that choice, I'd rather have my teeth pulled and have dentures.

well at my age i dont really want dentures , and they are pretty dang expensive ...20 000$ about , if I'm not mistaking , give or take a few , but in 2 years from now they will be as straight as can be .pain ? well i gotta tuff it out.many beers will come in handy ...lol

Dentures aren't that expensive... but they are a pain according to my mother... If your body weight changes 10-15 lbs up or down, they don't fit in your mouth correctly so you have to keep a very stable diet or get new ones.

Sorry to hear all the troubles your having... I hate getting work done. I've never had anything nearly that extensive.

Just looked at the vid... that is some weird stuff that they can do! My brother got braces when he was 36. He had to get 6 or 7 teeth removed, then braces to close up what little gaps were there. He had way too many teeth for his head. He's an identical twin to my other brother and the only real noticeable difference between them (to other people) was the size of their jaw/face. Now with the teeth taken out and all lined up, they actually look alike to me.

It's just amazing what they can do.

perminant implants can run 15,000 to 20G, but dentures are about a grand or so. give or take. its the prep for dentures that a bitch.
i mean come the f on. 600.00 to pull a tooth.

In a nut shell, yeah. The only consolation to this abuse a person suffers, is there are some oral surgeons that will do generalized anesthesia. In other words, your butt is asleep during the whole process. I've had several oral surgeries under general anesthesia. I wouldn't do it any other way.

Yeah well i will be asleep , no way in hell are they going to crank open my mouth by that much while me being awake, they gotta crak the bone, so pain , yes it will be present....alot....crap...I'm scared .... 2 days left , gotta eat theg most food posible , cause i will be back to baby food and icecream again..

wow that seems like alot to have done,I too had braces and what a pain in the mouth at least every 4 weeks when the get tighter...hang in there is all worth it!!!
