Any idea what the motor turn limits are on a Traxxas XL-5hv?

Hey there! Picked up the new motor for the trx-4 and threw it in. Tested it only on 2s because I have no clue if the xl-5hv can run 27 turn motors on 3s. Also I hear this terrible screeching noise from the motor when I let go of the throttle. Any ideas? The motor is a 540 can 27t crawler motor from rc 4wd. Thanks!

Should be able to handle up to 12t 550. Seen people run the titan 12t on the XL5 HV before, although it might get hot, although brushed systems always get hot.

That screeching noice, the bushings (or bearings) need some lube, since they too dry. Little bit of bearing oil can fix that. Or put the motor in a bucket of water, run for a few minutes about 30 percent throttle, water should turn cloudy/black, dry afterwards, and essentially it's cleaning the motor out. In my experience that also works.

Actually, I adjusted the way my pinion was set and it stopped. I tested it and everything. Now that I know the motor limits, I can confidently say it's ready to rip!

That's funny. My thoughts of electronic magnet induced noises; nails being torn off while going across a blackboard, and Bruce Dickinson screeching sounds were way off. My apologies. Continue onward.
