Fixed my Speed-NT again, got brand new asphalt to play on, spun out, smacked the curb (barely), and the steering servo stopped working completely.

So the truck needs to be almost totally pulled apart to get the servo out, checked the wiring, tested the receiver with the throttle servo. Circuit board in the bottom of the servo won't come out easy, so I'm afraid to try. I can only assume a contact was jarred loose inside.

Funny thing is, I have a 333oz servo that I picked up for my future Savage. I think it would be a waste to put it in a 1/10 speed truck, only to pull it back out eventually.

This is really pissing me off. I have two RCs. My Mutilator is waiting for a throttle linkage ball, because the one on it split, and the SNT that I just ran for 20 seconds needs a servo.

Sorry for my rant.

Well, on the bright side, there's a weekend in 7 days... Tear the truck down, order a new servo and watch some tv. :)

I wouldn't waste the 333 servo either. I had a xxx-nt many years ago (my first RC) and putting that servo in and taking it out was a pain. Can't say my jato is a lot easier, but it is a bit easier. It has a crappy towepro 995MG servo in it that I paid around $20 for a year or two ago. Kind of surprised it still works! At 180oz, it's pretty much overkill in that rig.

That said, I do have an electrical problem on that truck. Gut says it's battery, brain says it's something else... so it sits ona shelf until I feel like messing with it. It's intermittent. Doesn't do it on the bench, but shuts off randomly when driving. Tons-o-fun.

Perhaps it's driving skill that needs help instead of luck :D

J/K That sucks though,been there.

Hit the brakes because the wife distracted me. She was driving the XX-CR I just bought for her, and she's a total rookie.

same thing was happening to me. after tearing everything apart, it ended up being a lose connector on my power switch going to the battery. i replaced the switch and it stopped not working. (i have a gt2 with a spektrum radio)

Still can't get the circuit board off the servo, and I don't want to break it trying. Dug around a bit, found an old Futaba FP-S148 that works, had to trim the plug down a bit, but it works. It's a 57oz, vs the 70oz that came stock, so if I get the urge to run, I guess I'll throw it in.

I have two heavier servos coming, so I can wait.

Some servos have the motor soldered directly to the board and the motor is glued to the case... so, short of desoldering the main motor contacts, you probably won't get it out without cracking the board.

This is an old fried futaba S3305 that I got wet and it let the smoke out:

The two decent sized patches of silver solder near the bottom are the motor contacts soldered directly through/to the board.

I fried 2 throttle servos at yesterdays race. That was fun. JR4800s and a JR9100s. Ouchie.... The nipple on my carb spun a little and caused the servos to bind up. I found it after I smoked the 9100S. Not fun at all.... $200 in servos....gonezo! Thankfully they are still under warranty....

4800s - Stripped Gears
9100S - Busted up gears or something since it is locked up TIGHT. Can't even move it with pliers.
